Saber’s Santa Anita analysis

Race 1

2-year-old maidens go 4 1/2 furlongs. Trainer Luis Mendez excels with young 2-year-old maidens. He sends out the uncoupled entry of No. 1 Positivity and No. 3 Tripp a Matic. Positivity owns a real good work pattern while Tripp a Matic is out of the dam Chance of a Lifetime who has dropped 11 winners from 11 starters. 3**-1

Race 2

$25K fillies and mares go 5 1/2 furlongs. No. 2 Dorita’s Lemon looked good breaking her maiden first out of the box. No. 4 Your Royal Coil puts the blinkers on and comes off a good second at this level last out. No. 7 Hot on the Trail gets off the grass and drops into a very live spot off some big works. 7-2-4

Race 3

California bred $20K optional fillies and mares go 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass. No. 4 Swing Thoughts gets a turn back in distance and will be motoring late looking to run them down at the wire. 4**

Race 4

$20K maiden fillies and mares travel 1 1/16 miles. No. 8 Diva in Charge drops in class and gets jockey Flavien Prat riding on the stretch out. Her last work says she is on go. No. 1 Manresa comes off a neck loss last out going a flat mile. 8***-1

Race 5

$62,500 optional claimers travel a flat mile on the grass. No. 1 Odysseus has won both of starts and will fall into a nice stalking position on the rail. No. 4 Kazan is in top form and has run good at this level in the past. No. 7 Hit the Road was last seen running in the Grade 3 Cecil B. DeMille at Del Mar last December. No. 8 King of Speed just did miss in the Grade 3 San Simeon here in March. The hot riding Mike Smith rides today off a big work. 8**-7-4-1

Race 6

$12,500 claimers go six furlongs. No. 3 Jen Go Unchanged looks tough here off of his last two races. No. 9 Short of Ez won here the last time he went this six furlong distance. No. 10 Papa Turf owns racing recency and is in top form. 3-9-10

Race 7

$12,500 claimers go six furlongs. No. 5 King Parker looks perfectly spotted off the maiden win. No. 8 Music to My Ears looks the speed on the drop to this level. 5-8

Race 8

$40K optional claimers travel a flat mile. No. 4 Take the One O One gets off the grass and has been looking for a race. No. 6 Boogalute is a 3 time winner here and we like jockey Drayden Van Dyke riding today. No. 7 Tizamagician comes off a good effort in the Grade 3 R. B. Lewis here. No. 8 Nolo Contesto comes off a seven-month layoff but has been working up to this race. 6-7-8-4

Race 9

California bred maiden fillies and mares travel a flat mile on the grass. Mike Smith sticks around to ride No. 6 On Mars on the stretch out. No. 7 Rose’s Crystal takes the blinkers off and gets jockey Dryden Van Dyke riding for trainer Carla Gaines in a go spot. 6***-7**
