Race 1
The $100K Fran’s Valentine for California bred fillies and mares going a flat mile on the grass. If No. 2 Super Patriot can run back to her effort in the Grade 3 Megaherz she can win. No. 5 Warren’s Showtime is a perfect 3 for 3 on this grass course and has won 4 of her 5 grass races at this mile distance. No. 6 Cordiality was last seen winning this race last year. 5-2-6
Race 2
2-year-old maiden fillies go five furlongs. Jockey Flavien Prat and trainer Peter Miller hook up with No. 4 Heardimmunity who owns a big four furlong bullet work. No. 6 Exhalting has been working like a runner. No. 7 Okujah owns a nice work pattern for her debut. 4-6-7
Race 3
$40K optional claimers go 6 1/2 furlongs. The last two times No. 1 Horse Greedy went this 6 1/2 furlong distance he won both times. No. 4 Kneedeepinsnow and No. 6 Its Tiz Time both get big jockey upgrades. 4-1-6
Race 4
The $75K Desert Code for 3-year-olds going 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass. No. 6 Thanks Mr. Edison will look to turn the tables on No. 2 She’s So Special who beat him last out. That race was a real nice prep for Thanks Mr. Edison who gets Mike Smith in the irons today. 6***-2
Race 5
The $200K Grade 2 Santa Anita Oaks. No. 1 Swiss Skydiver ships in for Ken McPeek and gets big race rider Mike Smith. This filly is in great form and will be tough to beat in this four-horse field. Trainer Bob Baffert sends out No. 5 Regal Beauty and No. 2 Merneith. 1-5-2
Race 6
Maidens go 6 1/2 furlongs. The uncoupled entry of No. 1 Cezanne and No. 2 Brazen have both been working lights out and make one very tough one two punch. 1-2
Race 7
The $100K Crystal Water for California breds going a flat mile on the grass. No. 3 Prince Earl just missed in the Grade 2 City of Hope on this course last year. No. 7 Ward ‘n Jerry just won the Grade 3 San Luis Rey last out. 3**-7
Race 8
The $400K Santa Anita Derby at 1 1/8 miles. Trainer Bob Baffert sends out No. 5 Azul Coast and the highly regarded No. 7 Authentic who is the colt to beat. No. 6 Honor A. P. Finished second behind Authentic in the San Felipe last out. 7***-6**-5
Race 9
The $150K Cinema for 3-year-olds traveling 1 1/8 miles on the grass. No. 3 K P All Systems Go has really put his game together routing on the grass. No. 7 Hariboux is the stablemate of K P All Systems Go and gives trainer Jeff Mullins a very tough uncoupled entry. 7***-3
Race 10
The $300K Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup at 1 1/4 miles. No. 2 Midcourt just missed last out in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap. No. 4 Brown Storm finished fourth in the Santa Anita Handicap after setting the pace. We like the hot riding Abel Cedillo riding today. No. 6 Tenfold ships in for trainer Steve Asmussen and Mike Smith will ride. 2-4-6
Race 11
$20K optional California bred fillies and mares go 6 1/2 furlongs. No. 3 Li’l Grazen gets jockey Flavien Prat riding in this her second start off the layoff. No. 8 Takethediamondlane also gets a new rider with jockey Umberto Rispilo riding. 3-8
