Saber’s Santa Anita analysis for Saturday

Race 1

California bred 2-year-old maiden fillies go 4 1/2 furlongs. No. 4 Mamba Queen is a first time starter out of the dam Charred Red who has dropped 4 winners from 4 starters. No. 6 Spicy Sommelier has the hot jockey and trainer combo of Flavien Prat riding for trainer Peter Miller. Prat has won with 6 of his last 9 rides for trainer Peter Miller. No. 7 Smoothlikebuttah was eliminated at the start in her debut race and will be tough here with a clean break. No. 8 Reign of Fire was up against open company in her one start. 4-6-7-8

Race 2

$40K optional fillies and mares go 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass. No. 3 Prance looked great breaking her maiden on this grass course last out and can repeat in this spot. We say single ! **3

Race 3

$20K maiden fillies and mares travel a flat mile. No. 1 Manresa once again looks the one to beat at a short price. No. 5 New Year New Me exits the same last race as Manresa. No. 6 Our Bonnie Lass gets first time lasix and will appreciate the longer trip today. 1-5-6

Race 4

$25K claimers travel a flat mile on the grass. Jockey Flavien Prat and trainer Peter Miller hook up again with No. 3 Worthy Turk who just did miss by a head last out at this level and distance. No. 4 Seeking Refuge looks perfectly spotted off the maiden win. 3***-4

Race 5

$50K California-bred maiden fillies and mares go seven furlongs. Trainer Leonard Powell sends out the tough uncoupled entry of No. 1 Cameo Shores and No. 5 Blazing Charm. No. 6 Instastory who just missed last out will like the seven-furlong distance today. 5-6-1

Race 6

The $100K Thor’s Echo at six furlongs for California breds. No. 1 Desert Law won this race last year by six lengths. No. 2 Tiger Dad is very consistent and the stablemate of Desert Law. 1**-2

Race 7

$40K optional claimers go 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass. No. 5 Go Time gets the good grass rider Drayden Van Dyke riding for trainer Peter Miller off the layoff. He was last seen running in stakes company last December. He broke his maiden first out at Gulfstream Park sprinting on the grass. No. 6 Kris’ Wildkat looks set for his best second off the layoff.  5-6

Race 8

The $75K Angel Flight at 6 1/2 furlongs for 3-year-old fillies. Jockey Mike Smith is back in good graces with trainer Bob Baffert as he jumps on No. 1 Gingham. No.2 Biddy Duke looks the speed. 1-2

Race 9

$16K claimers go seven furlongs. No. 2 Little No Way gets a big class drop as does No. 6 Dark Hedges and No. 7 More Honor who missed by a nose the one time he ran for this price tag. No. 5 Will Dancer is on a win every other race pattern and this is his win race. 2-5-6-7
