Race 1

Calif. bred $50k maiden 2yo go six furlongs and there is a ton of early speed in here. No. 3 Carnelian Hero is a live first time starter for Jeff Bonde. She is out of the dam Cherokee Kiss who has dropped 5 winners from 6 starters including a stakes winner. No. 5 Governor Cinch exits our HTW list and is the one to beat.

5**-3

Race 2

We get only five runners in this the second leg of the early pick five. No. 2 Freedom Ride has not run a bad race in her four starts. No. 3 Vegan was in over her head last out and now is spotted perfectly.

2-3

Race 3

Calif. bred maidens travel a mile on the grass. No. 1 Fravel has been well bet in his two starts, both going long on the grass. He finds a very easy group. No. 2 Jetovator is the speed. 1-2

Race 4

$20k maidens go 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 1 Truest Reward drops a notch in this his second start, we like Abel Cedillo up for Doug O’Neill. No. 3 Rineshaft gets blinkers on and a drop in class. He will show all of his early speed today with Tiago Pereira gunning from the bell. 1-3

Race 5

$32k runners go 6-1/2 furlongs. No. 6 Top Brass is a true pro with 7 wins from his 17 starts and 3 for 5 here at Santa Anita. No. 8 Rocko’s Wheel also fits that description with 5 wins from 19 starts and 3 for 9 at the once great race place. 6-8

Race 6

$25k claimers travel a mile on the grass and we get two runners exiting the same last race. No. 3 Offshore who gets Flavien Prat back in the irons and drops back to the price tag of his last win one race back. No. 5 Moonlight Drive finished second in that $25k race just a dwindling 3/4 of a length behind Offshore. He will be the better price of the two. We will play him to win and place and make an exacta box.
