SANTA ANITA
Race 1
No. 4 Placido exits our HTW list, he gets a turn back in distance and will try the grass, we love the fact that Prat gets the call today for Callaghan. No. 3 Conquest Smartee loses Prat to Placido but gets the hot bug boy who is battling Prat for the riding title, this colt missed by a head going down the hill one race back. 3-4
Race 2
Maiden 2yo fillies go five furlongs. No. 2 Factorize has been working like a runner for Peter Miller, Mike Smith gets on the Baffert first-time starter No. 3 Diamondsandpearls. No. 5 Mondaymorningblues exits our HTW list as a $$$$$ play, she is the stablemate of Factorize and comes off a troubled first trip when sent off as the 6/5 chalk. 5***-2-3
Race 3
$20k maiden claiming fillies and mares go seven furlongs. No. 3 She Began Again gets a break in the weights in this her second start with the Roman on today, we think she is the one and we will single in the pick five. 3
Win and place 3
Race 4
$32k claiming fillies and mares go down the hill. No. 1 Painting Corners blasted them last out down the hill winning by five lengths to break her maiden, she can do it again, Gary Stevens gets on the Bonde dropper No. 3 You’re Late who just may take to this trip at a fair price. No. 6 Gemini Journey gets a big jock switch for her first try down the hill. 1-3-6
Race 5
THE 100K LANDALUCE AT 5-1/2 FURLONGS FOR 2YO FILLIES
No. 5 Surrender Now looked big time when breaking her maiden first out of the box. No. 6 Flat Drunk is in from Keeneland and lands in the barn of the ice cold David Hofmans, this filly could get him his first win of the meet. 5-6
Race 6
Optional $75k 3yo fillies go a mile on the grass. No. 1 November Tale is in from Ireland for Paddy Gallagher, she looks live, Mike Smith and Richard Mandella hook up once again with No. 3 Blame It On Alphie who was a little too keen to run last time out, she needs a patient ride. No. 4 Heavenly Thought will be unleashing a big late run. 1-3-4
Race 7
$40k claimers go 6-1/2 furlongs. No. 1 Prime Issue will be on or just right off the pace. No. 3 Zuri Chop gets off the grass, he will fall right behind the fast pace. 1-3
Race 8
$8k claimers go seven furlongs. No. 2 Anxious Times takes a huge drop in class as they try and gets some cash and unload this 6yo gelding. No. 3 Roman Tizzy lost by a head in his first try at this level last out. No. 8 London Legacy lost a heartbreaker last out with lesser, he gets his first start off the Diodoro claim and fits with this crew at a price. 2-3-8
Race 9
Optional $62,500 claimers go a flat mile on the grass, the question we ask is why is No. 2 Arms Runner in this race? He was scratched out of a stakes race last week and now shows up in this much easier spot, he will be way overbet and we will look to beat him. We find it interesting that No. 4 Tequila Joe shows up on this spot so late in the meet as he makes his first start of the year after running in Grade 3 races at Arlington Park last year, we note the Prat takes the ride. Gary Stevens gets on No. 9 Blackjackcat who stretches out in this his 3rd off the layoff. 4-9
CHECK FOR LATE SCRATCHES AND CHECK THAT THE SADDLE CLOTH NUMBERS MATCH OUR SELECTION NUMBERS.
