SANTA ANITA

Race 1

3yo maidens go down the hill. We always take notice when Peter Miller sends out two runners in the same race and he sends out No. 6 Agent Bond a first time starter and No. 9 Capall who is in from the gate, changes barns and gets the super turf jock Castellano up for the ride and a great post. No. 8 Frenchmen Street ran a better then looked 4th last out on this course and he gets Roman back on today. Baffert sends out a live first time starter No. 7 Lontani and we like the fact the Prat gets on for his debut, Baffert has not been a good turf trainer in the past but has been sending more and more runners on the grass. Baffert also sends out No. 12 Call West a first time starter with Van Dyke, this one has some go get ‘em works. This jockey trainer combo has been hot. 12-9-7-(6-8)alt.

Race 2

3yo maidens go six furlongs on the dirt. No. 3 Passionate Reward has been working good for his first start for papa Mandella and we like that Mike Smith says he will ride. No. 4 Eviscerator is a first timer for Baltas and Prat gets on for his debut. Castellano gets on the Peter Miller first timer No. 6 Bobby Axelrod and that last work says he is on go. Baffert sends out first time starter No. 7 Super Sol who they paid $400k for but none of his go to riders are up, Talamo who has been getting some mounts for Baffert will ride. 3-4-6-7

Race 3

No. 8 Accountability exits our HTW list off a just miss in the Turf Classic, he had a horrible trip. No. 12 The Big Train exits the same race and is a must use. 8**-12

Race 4

THE $400K GRADE I TRIPLE BEND AT 7 FURLONGS

No. 1 Edwards Going Left has won 7 of his 11 starts and is proven at this distance. No. 3 Giant Expectations is back from Florida after a failed attempt in the Pegasus World Cup when way over his head, he has a shot if that race didn’t take its toll. No. 5 City of Light comes off a big win in the Grade I Malibu here at this distance when going wire-to-wire. 1**-5-3

Race 5

THE $400K GRADE I MILE TURF FRANK E. KILROE

Mark Casse travels for the money and brings in the very classy No. 5 World Approval who is looking for his 5th straight win and 4th Grade I win from those starts. Mott brings in No. 8 Channel Maker and Castellano will ride, the one time he rode this gelding he just missed in the Grade I Hollywood Derby.

5***-8

Race 6

THE $400K 1-1/16 GRADE II SAN FELIPE WORTH 50 KENTUCKY DERBY POINTS

Two runners in here have been working a hole in the wind. No. 1 Bolt d’Oro and No. 4 McKinzie who put in a 7 furlong work of 1:23.4, when Baffert does that it means light out the party is over..4*****-1**

Race 7

Optional $40k claimers go six furlongs and this race is so very wide open. No. 2 Stone Hands is coming off a huge win last out as is No. 4 Big League and No. 5 Tribal Roar and No. 7 Ketos, bet the best price. 2-4-5-7

Race 8

THE $75K CHINA DOLL FOR 3YO FILLIES GOING A MILE ON THE GRASS

No. 1 Ms Bad Behavior is in tip top form and we love Kent D getting on for Baltas. No. 2 Treasuring exits the same race, she had some trouble and now gets a jock change to Nakatani. No. 6 Finess Bere also exits the race and will go better at this mile distance. No. 8 Lexington Grace was last seen running a solid 4th in the Grade III Jimmy Durante in her first start in the states, Castellano will ride today. No. 9 Ippodamia’s Girl has been on the grass four times with 2 wins and 2 seconds. 8**-1-2-6-9

Race 9

$12,500 claimers 4yo and up non-winners of two races go 6-1/2 on the dirt. No. 3 Celebrate Life showed big early speed in his first start at this level last out and now gets a big break in the weights with Asa Espinoza getting the call today. No. 9 Marvelous Max will be making a late run at the speed along with No. 12 Liberty Jack. 12-3-9

Race 10

THE $600K GRADE I SANTA ANITA HANDICAP AT 1-1/4 ON THE DIRT

At one time this was THE race but now it has lost some of its appeal but for us old guys it’s still a big deal. No. 5 Hoppertunity could find this field to his liking, he has won over 4 million dollars and keeps earning checks, No. 8 Mubtaahij gets big race Mike Smith and that makes us stand up and use him, we think Baffert wins this race. 8**-5

Race 11

Maiden 3yo fillies go 1-1/8 on the grass a real tough way to end this very difficult day. No. 1 Hope Wins goes long after back-to-back turf sprints for D’Amato. No. 5 Rancor may find herself on a lone lead and could get brave today. After those two this one is wide open. 1-5
