SANTA ANITA

Race 1

This huge eleven race card starts off with maidens going a mile on the grass. No. 2 Sellwood exits our HTW list of a nose loss at this mile turf distance last out, when he got in some trouble, he was best that day and will be tough again. No. 5 Friendly Outthedoor gets Mike Smith on today, look for a big move forward. No. 8 Majestic Eagle has finished second in both of his turf races and fits here. 2***-5-8

Race 2

$12,500 fillies and mares 4yo and up go 6-1/2 furlongs on the main. No. 1 Just Be Held takes a double drop in class and gets the hard trying Tyler Connor on for the ride. No. 5 Mining Diamonds exits the same race and will show all of her early speed on the drop down. 1*-5

Race 3

$30k maiden 3yo fillies go 6-1/2 furlongs on the dirt. No. 6 Mischievous Lass will like the move to a sprint and has a big last work. Jockey Stewart Elliott gets on the only first time starter in the race No. 8 Asem, she could be live in this very soft spot. 6-8

Race 4

$30k maiden 3yo fillies go 6-1/2 furlongs on the dirt in an extension of the last race. No. 2 Tengs Rhythm gets her second try at this level and has a good last work. No. 1 Lily Be Good gets her second start and a little class drop, she exits a tough heat last out in which she broke slow and was dead last, look for much better today. After those two girls this one is wide open, watch the betting. 2-1

Race 5

$50k claimers fillies and mares 4yo and up go down the hill. No. 1 Red Livy has won 3 of ten starts but all three came down the hill in five tries, she is the speed. No. 6 Nine Point Nine has been looking for a race and she will be right on the heels of Red Livy. No. 8 A Little Bit Me gets a good post and Roman on today, she will fall right behind the top two looking to run them down crossing the dirt. 1-6-8

Race 6

Cal bred $50k maidens go 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 7 Johnny Ray ran a good 3rd when dropped to this level last time out and Tyler sticks. No. 5 Polity has some steady works for his long layoff, he looks ready to fire a big shot. No. 4 For the Hustle has some good works for his debut. 7-5-4

Race 7

THE $100K THOR’S ECHO AT SIX FURLONGS

No. 1 Edwards Going Left exits a Grade I race and is on a win every other race pattern, this is his win race, bet him to cash. 1***

Race 8

Cal bred optional $16k claimers go one mile on the grass. No. 6 Kings River King gets back to his best distance after running 4th down the hill last out at this level, the runner we really like in this race is stuck on the also eligible list. No. 11 Six Point Rack who just missed last out vs. strong going 1-1/8 on the grass. If he gets in he will be our main play. 11***-6

Race 9

$12,500 claimers 4yo and up go six furlongs. No. 3 Well Measured looks very tough at this level and that last work has him on go. No. 4 Native Treasure drops and this 8yo gelding still has some run in those legs, he will be making a last run. 3***-4

Race 10

Optional $62,500 runners 4yo and up go a mile on the grass, trainer Robert Falcone Jr. is having a great meet winning at a .30 percent clip. He sends out the likely chalk here in No. 1 Aquaphobia who exits a Grade II race last out. No. 3 Well Developed has run four times finishing second in his debut and then winning three straight all going long on the grass. No. 4 Cafe Flavor gets Brice Blanc he will be flying with a late run at a big price. 1**3-4

Race 11

Cal bred $50k maidens go 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 3 Seattle Encounter is a first time starter out of the dam Collectors Edition who has dropped 3 winners from 3 starters, he has a real nice last work and we like Franco Geovanni on for the ride. No. 7 Red Obsession showed some good early speed in his one start and now changes barns, Tyler Baze will be gunning from the bell. Nakatani sticks around to ride No. 9 Righteous Wave for Bruce Headley on the drop, he looks sneaky and the price will be solid off the long layoff but that last work was a doozy.
