Race 2

$12,500 claimers 4yo and up go 5-1/2 furlongs. No. 2 Sharon’s Fury drops into a logical spot and has a nice last work. No. 3 Lucky Staxx comes off a nice maiden score and is perfectly spotted. 2-3

Race 3

Optional $62,500 fillies and mares go 6-1/2 furlongs on the main. No. 1 Yuvetsi has been this distance two times with a win and a second. No. 5 Queen Laila comes off a big win off the layoff and was claimed by Jacobson for $40k and it’s a good sign he puts this tough filly in this claim proof spot. No. 6 Phantom Proton bested Yuvetsi last out but it was at six furlongs. 1-5-6

Race 4

Maiden fillies and mares go a mile on the grass. No. 4 Jazaalah has been routing on the grass and doing ok, she gets Kent D on today off a nice last work. No. 5 Rockin Ready has finished second in all three of her races and all were on the grass. No. 7 Resolu exits our HTW list off a trouble first trip, she will be right there. 4-5-7

THE $500K GRADE I GOLD CUP AT A 1-1/4 ON THE MAIN

No. 2 Accelerate won the Grade I Santa Anita Handicap at this distance. No. 5 Dr. Dorr is a late bloomer for Baffert and he seems to be peaking right now. 2-5

Race 6

THE $200K GRADE II CHARLES WHITTINGHAM AT A 1-1/4 ON THE GRASS

No. 5 Kenjisstorm has been gearing up for this race and the one time he went this distance he finished second. No. 6 Itsinthepost is one tough cookie and can get this distance on the grass. 5-6

Race 7

Cal bred maidens travel 6-1/2 furlongs on the main. No. 7 Baby Gronk is unlucky to still be a maiden, today looks the day. No. 1 Old Indian Trick finished 3rd behind Gronk in his first start and can only move forward. No. 8 Jonas gets his second start and will move forward. 7**-1-8

Race 8

THE $300K GRADE I GAMELY AT 1-1/8 ON THE GRASS FOR FILLIES AND MARES

Irad is in town to ride No. 5 Uni for Chad Brown, bet her to cash. Julien Leparoux is in town to ride No. 7 Hawksmoor, she is one tough Mare with good early speed. 5-7

Race 9

$30k maiden 3yo go six furlongs. No. 1 North County Guy drops back to this level and gets Leparoux riding for Jacobson. No. 7 It’s a New Year gets a turn back in distance after running a good 3rd at 1-1/16 at this level last out for Miller who puts the bug boy Figueroa on today. Irad also sticks around to ride No. 10 Flynn on the drop for Miyadi, he also gets a turn back to a sprint. 1-7-10
