SANTA ANITA-HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Race 1

40k maiden fillies and mares 4yo and up go six furlongs. No. 2 She Has Charm drops from straight maiden races, gets off the grass and gets Prat and a turn back in distance. No. 6 Gust also drops for Peter Miller off a good second here back in May, she comes off the layoff and looks set at this level. 2-6

Race 2

This goes 1-1/8 on the grass and we hope the rains have gone away. No. 1 Sweet Charity is in from France for Sadler and opts for this spot and the good turf rider Van Dyke gets the call. No. 2 Untouchable U is the speed and is in top form, she just went wire-to-wire at this turf distance in her last start. No. 7 Enduring Erin is in top form and owns a big last work. No. 8 Lily Kai comes off a nice win here at this turf distance. 1-2-7-8

Race 3

32k claimers go six furlongs. No. 1 Too Fast to Pass gets a confident move up in class off the claim, he has a bullet last work here on December 27th. No. 3 Glacken Too also gets a confident move up in class off the Hollendorfer claim, he likes this track. No. 6 Wildfire Kid also gets a confident boast in class off the Peter Miller claim, he has won 3 of his 5 starts here. 1-3-6

Race 4

4yo claimers go 7 furlongs. No. 5 Bolitar gets off the grass and can handle the distance. No. 8 Basinca is the stablemate of Bolitar and the drop to this level and Bejarano getting back on, he won with him the last time he was on, makes this one tough in here. 5-8

Race 5

50k claimers go a flat mile on the dirt. No. 2 Madiba drops back to the level of his near miss and Luis Contreras can ride. No. 5 Ike Walker fits here and gets Bejarano who is due to heat up. No. 7 Just Kidding drops and gets Prat and has a good last work. 2-5-7

Race 6

25k claimers go 1-1/8 on the grass. No. 2 Malko has run back-to-back good races for this price tag. No. 11 All Call just missed with better last out. 2-11

Race 7

75k maiden 3yo go six furlongs. No. 5 True Appeal broke slow in his first start, he gets an extra half a furlong today and a new rider, look for a big effort. No. 1 Tiz Indy exits the same race as does No. 8 Squared Squared who gets his first start off the Sadler claim. 1-5**-8

Exacta box 1-5-8

Race 8

THE 200K GRADE II SAN PASQUAL AT 1-1/16

This is a prep for No. 5 Arrogate who will be 1/5, single in the pick’s. No. 4 Midnight Storm is very tough and will try and upset. 5-4

Race 9

3yo maidens go 1-1/8 on the grass. No. 4 Panama Papers is in from New York and looks fit. No. 6 Bobby G ran good in his first try on the grass last out and can move forward. No. 11 Ice Kat is very unlucky to still be a maiden as he just missed in his last two starts on the grass. 11****-6-4
