SANTA ANITA
Race 1
NOTE: check the weather for possible rain.
We hope this race remains on the grass as we like No. 2 Falcone who exits our HTW list off a very nice maiden score last out. He is spotted perfectly for a repeat win for the brothers Desormeaux.
TURF ONLY
WIN AND PLACE 2
Race 2
No. 3 Odyssey Explorer is on a win every other race pattern and this is his win race. He did finish second in the slop in his only off track run. No. 6 Spa Shackalacka takes a big class drop off the win for Philip D’Amato.
3-6
Race 3
This one is scheduled to go down the hill so keep an eye out for any rain. No. 2 Dimkar is the key player here on the turn back in distance as he went 1-1/16 on the grass in his first start. He gets blinkers on and the leading jockey. No. 1 Big Buzz just did get beat by a neck one race back on this downhill turf course and makes his first start as a gelding. No. 5 Raging Tiger finished right behind the Big Buzz in that race.
2**-1-5
WIN AND PLACE 2 AND KEY EXACTA BOX 2 WITH 1-5 (turf only).
Race 4
We have a six horse field here with Bob Baffert sending out two runners. No. 1 Zulfikhar and No. 5 Microrithms the speed. Peter Miller also sends out two runners: No. 3 Distinctive B and No. 6 Captain Scotty. Take your pick at the right price. 1-5-3-6
Race 5
No. 8 Tick Tock drops a notch for William Morey who does well with second time starters. No. 9 Perfect Ice Storm drops from three straight maiden races and gets blinkers on and a bullet last work. 8-9
Race 6
This is set to go 1-1/4 on the grass. No. 1 Acker is looking for his 4th straight win. No. 6 Starting Bloc won at this distance on the grass here back in October, we like Drayden Van Dyke. No. 9 Fight On gets some class relief and Falvien Prat up for Doug O’Neill. 1-6-9
Race 7
No. 6 Kingly exits our HTW list off a gutty win first out for Baffert. He will love this mile distance. No. 3 Gray Magician ran a better than looked 4th in the Sham Stakes last out. No. 7 Extra Hope was last seen running 3rd in the Grade I Los Alamitos Futurity. 6-3-7
Race 8
Only eight races today and we will need to go four deep here using No. 3 Brix who ran a good second on this downhill turf course last out and now gets the Heriberto Figueroa. No. 7 Preaching Trainer looks live first out for Carla Gaines turf or off track. No. 8 He Be Mojo Risin ran ok on a wet fast track first out and now will go down the hill. No. 10 Play Money is a first timer for David Hofmans who has been sending out some live ones. He is bred to love this course.
