SANTA ANITA

Race 1

Today is whip Friday as all the jockeys will be riding with whips.

No. 4 Tick Tock is the key runner in this six furlong sprint for $30k maiden 3yo fillies. She lands in the barn of Andrew Lerner and will be very tough to beat in this spot. No. 1 New Year New Me exits a key race and gets her second start. No. 6 Appolina gets her second start for Bob Baffert and will be over bet. No. 8 Acadia Fleet exits the same key race as New Year. 4**-1-6-8

Race 2

In this $12,500 claimer, all we can say is that we have no clue who will win. No. 5 Cayate is the speed and just missed last out at this level by a head after battling all the way. If he can clear, he should be gone.

5 (all).

Race 3

$35k fillies and mares go a mile on the grass. No. 4 Wind Tartare gets Drayden Van Dyke up and he has been really riding good. No. 5 Whirling just missed last out going down the hill and gets the strong Edwin Maldonado riding. 4-5

Race 4

$12,500 runners go a mile on the main and this is really a bad race. No. 4 Liberty Park drops big time looking for his level. No. 5 Smokin B has a big last work for this level. No. 9 Implicitly looks the speed of the speed. 4-5-9

Race 5

Maiden 3yo fillies go six furlongs and No. 4 Honeyfromthesouth is the key runner. She has run four times with two seconds and two thirds. Jockey Martin Garcia is trying to get back in with Baffert and he gets the ride. We will key her first and second with No. 6 Ce Ce a live first timer with a bullet last work. No. 8 Royally Bland the stablemate of Ce Ce and No. 9 Mind for Mischief who has speed and gets Lasix in this her second start. 4** with 6-8-9

Race 6

$50k starter allowance runners travel a mile on the grass. No. 2 Combat Zone comes off a nice maiden breaker and the runner who finished 3rd in the race came back to score next out. No. 6 Little No Way is in from Gulfstream Park and lands in the barn of Peter Miller, he is on go. 2-6

Race 7

Cal bred fillies and mares go 6-1/2 on the dirt. No. 1 Wandering Patrol lost at .90 cents on the dollar last out but the filly who beat her came back to score again next out. No. 3 Empress of Lov gets her first start off the Ron Ellis claim and gets a break in the weights with the bug boy Diaz up. No. 7 Tapitha Bonita looks live off the layoff for William Spawr. 1-3-7

Race 8

No. 3 SCATTERING MINK is back in town after a quick trip up to Golden Gate where she ran second sprinting six furlongs. That race will have her set for this mile turf race. Being by Scat Daddy, she is bred to love the grass and this trip. 3****
