SANTA ANITA

Race 1

Maidens are scheduled to go a mile on the grass but more rain is in the forecast so beware if this moves to the dirt and check scratches. No. 1 My Italian Babbo takes his first try on grass after losing at 9/5 in his last start on the Del Mar dirt when battling on the pace. If he runs back to his first start when taking back and making a late run he can get the job done with this crew on turf of dirt. No. 4 Evicted has run all five of his starts on the grass and was a good second last out and ran his best race here on this turf course three races back and he gets Prat today. No. 6 My Uncle Al gets Bejarano and will go much better today in this his second try on the grass, he can dirt also. 1-4-6

Race 2

3yo maiden fillies go a mile on the main. No. 1 Spooky Woods ran her best race on a wet fast surface last time out at this distance when Prat got on, he sticks with her. No. 2 Sabi Sands gets the stretchout and has the brothers D connection. No. 3 Bernina Star did not like the wet fast track when running behind Spooky last out, if its dry and fast she is a player.

Race 3

$50k optional claiming 3yo go six furlongs. No. 2 Pampers n’ Boots has done little wrong in his first two starts with a win and a second. No. 3 Elwood J is the speed and comes off a little freshening. 2-3

Race 4

$10k claimers go 7 furlongs in a real puzzler. We will opt for a single here using No. 2 Carlot Cowboy even with the ice cold Joe Talamo riding, he is in from Turf Paradise and that last work here on the 15th was best of 78, he looks on go. 2

Win and place 2

Race 5

This is scheduled to go a mile on the grass for maiden 3yo. No. 2 Marckie’s Water ran a better than looked 4th in his first try on the grass last out. No. 3 Burnt Cognac finished a length in front of him that race and could be the lone speed today. No. 9 Bottle Service gets a huge rider upgrade for his second start and second at this turf distance. 2-3-9

Exacta box 2-3-9 and win and place 9

Race 6

In this $25k claimer for non winners of two races for 4yo and up we will look for a closer as this one is loaded with early speed. No. 7 Pete’s Play Call will sit chilly off the hot pace and make his move turning for home. No. 8 Junior Gilliam will be making a big late move and can get home at a big price if the front end fades. 7-8

Double

5th 2-3-9

6th 7-8

Race 7

$32k optional claimer going a flat mile on the main. If the track comes up dry and fast we will be singling No. 8 Classic Ruler on the Hollendorfer stretchout first off the claim with Prat getting the call. 8

Race 8

$30k maiden 3yo go 5-1/2 furlongs and we have made this a three horse race using No. 2 Downside up on the run back to a sprint. No. 5 Runs Sweet is a first time starter for O’Neill who put a real nice five furlong work into him on the 15th and No. 8 Rock On Dude who makes his first start as a gelding and gets blinkers on and a drop from maiden special. 2-5-8

Exacta box 2-5-8

CHECK FOR LATE SCRATCHES AND MAKE SURE TO CHECK TURF RACES.
