After 66 games contested over a three-week span, March Madness reaches its conclusion tonight with San Diego State vs. UConn in the championship game at NRG Stadium in Houston.

No. 4 UConn appears to be on cruise control en route to its fifth national championship, with only No. 5 SDSU now standing in the way.

The Huskies rolled Miami, 72-59, in the Final Four on Saturday. The Aztecs slipped past Florida Atlantic, 72-71, in an instant classic on a buzzer-beater from Lamont Butler.

San Diego State Aztecs Betting Overview (32-6, 19-16-3 ATS)

Simply put, San Diego State needs everything to go right to have a chance tonight.  The trademark tough defense has to stifle, and offensive rebounding will also be key at the other end of the floor. It will help too if the Aztecs can again make 50% of their three-point attempts (9-18 vs. Florida Atlantic).

Matt Bradley had his best game of the tournament against Florida Atlantic. Bradley, who disappeared at times early in the tourney, scored a team-high 21 points and made 4-of-8 3-point attempts.

Bradley is the only Aztec to average double-digit points per game (12.7), which is scary when you see how UConn can light things up from inside and outside.

SDSU is ranked 68th in offensive efficiency by KenPom. That doesn’t bode well against a UConn team that’s won five tournament games by an average of 20.6 points.

UConn Huskies Betting Overview (30-8, 26-11-1 ATS)

Adama Sanogo (21 points) and Jordan Hawkins (13) led the Huskies again in their semifinal win over Miami. Sanogo banged a pair of 3-pointers early, and Hawkins overcame a stomach bug to help UConn advance.

Guard Tristen Newton, who leads UConn in assists (4.7 per game), also made his presence felt on defense against Miami. Newton helped limit explosive guards Isaiah Wong and Nijel Pack to a combined 23 points.

Newton now faces another big matchup with Aztec guard Darrion Trammell, who keyed SDSU’s 71-64 win over No. 1 Alabama with 21 points.

The 13-point victory over Miami marked the closest game for UConn in the tourney. The Huskies are the sixth team to reel off five double-digit wins en route to the championship game since the bracket expanded to 64 teams in 1985.

UConn relies on the 3-pointer more than SDSU. The Huskies have made more than 40% of attempts from behind the arc in the tournament. KenPom has UConn ranked No. 1 overall and No. 3 in offensive efficiency.

San Diego State vs. UConn Prediction

The Huskies have played the role of juggernaut in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. San Diego State has used a veteran roster and physical brand of defense to reach its first Final Four and championship game.

UConn will be too much for SDSU in the end. Expect another double-digit win, and lay the points again with the Huskies.

SDSU vs. UConn Prop Bet Prediction

Adama Sanogo Over 8.5 Rebounds (+116 at FanDuel)

Sanogo has three double-doubles in the tournament and registered no less than eight rebounds in a game. At plus-money, this looks like a prudent play on UConn’s big man.
