It’s just hard to believe we are getting down to the nitty gritty of the college football season, it seems like it just started yesterday.

The final four playoff spots are still in doubt with the possible exception of Alabama as they play Charleston Southern this week and then at Auburn next week. I doubt Auburn can beat the Tide as they couldn’t handle Georgia last week.

Ohio State may have the toughest road as they play Michigan State this week and then travel to the Big House next week to play Michigan.

Undefeated Clemson also looks to have a soft road in their last two games as they get Wake Forest this Saturday and at South Carolina next week. It is the Gamecocks “Game of the Year” and they will be fired up.

With that said, let’s get to some plays.

College football

Friday

Cincinnati -2.5 at USF: The Bearcats have gone 11-0 ATS as a weekday chalk of -9 or less while South Florida is 0-9 ATS in weekdays games when coming off a win. We will lay the small number on the road. CINCINNATI.

Saturday

LSU +4 at Mississippi: What has happened to LSU? One minute they look like a final four team and now just want to get a good bowl game. The Tigers need to win out if that is going to happen. All is not well in Baton Rouge but this could be a good spot for the rebound as LSU as gone 9-0 ATS as a dog when coming off a loss as the chalk. LSU.

Northwestern +10.5 at Wisconsin: The Badgers have gone 9-0 against the spread when coming off an extra week’s rest. The Wildcats, who edged Purdue last week, have gone 0-5 ATS in games after playing the Boilermakers. WISCONSIN.

Navy -11.5 at Tulsa: The Midshipmen are playing super ball with their only loss coming at South Bend; they have gone 8-1 SU and 7-2 ATS. We look for them to score at will and blow the Golden Hurricane out. Navy has also gone 8-0 ATS in the first of back-to-back road games when playing a team off a loss. NAVY.

Tennessee -9.5 at Missouri: The Tigers got the big win last weekend in a high energy performance trying to make a point for the University. That was last week. Now low scoring Mizzou will be lucky to get two TD’s in this matchup. They have gone 0-5 ATS in this situation when coming off a SU win as a dog while the Vols are 4-0 ATS as a road chalk after giving up ten or more points in their last game. They won 24-0 last week and we must remember Alabama could only beat Tennessee 19-14. TENNESSEE/UNDER.

Michigan State +13.5 at Ohio St: No pressure on the Spartans owning two losses but plenty will be on the Buckeyes who have Michigan next week. Lots of things to like about the Spartans getting the cover as they have gone 6-0 ATS in revenge games after giving up 7 or less points in their last outing. It gets even better for them as the visitor, which has covered the last six times in the series. MICHIGAN ST.

Michigan -5.5 at Penn St.: It will be a white out at State and a huge revenge game for the Nittany Lions who were defeated in the Big House last year 18-13. Michigan was very fortunate to get the win last week, beating Indiana in a wild overtime game 48-41. Big Blue has gone 0-8 ATS in away games after putting 35 or more points on the board. We also have the look-ahead factor to consider. PENN ST.

UCLA +2.5 at Utah: Both teams coming off losses but we will side with the Utes as they have gone 6-0 ATS as a home chalk of -5 or less when playing a team coming off a loss. The Bruins have gone 0-8 ATS when playing a team coming off a loss as the chalk. UTAH.

Notre Dame -17 vs. Boston College (at Fenway Park): Another look-ahead game as the Irish, with a big shot at making the final four playoffs, will travel to play Stanford next weekend. This will not be a good spot for the blowout. The Eagles have gone 8-0 ATS in games after playing NC State and 6-0 ATS as dogs of +15 or higher when coming off a double digit loss. BC.

CFB Last Week: 5-3-2

CFB Season: 60-39-3

NFL

Redskins +7.5 at Panthers (45): We had the black cats last week and got the win. Coming right back with the undefeated Panthers as they have gone 5-0 ATS when playing a team coming off a SU dog win. The Skins crushed the Saints this past Sunday as a +1 dog. PANTHERS.

Packers +1.5 at Vikings (45): Gotta go way back to find the last time the Packers have dropped three straight games. Losing at home to the Lions makes us stand up and notice they are not the same team without Jordy Nelson. The Vikings, playing like a championship team, have gone 9-0 ATS when coming off a game against an AFC team and then playing a division foe. VIKINGS.

The bottom line is get out and make a bet. You could be walking around lucky and not even know it.
