Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Betting Preview
The Vegas Golden Knights got the 5-2 win in Game 1 on Saturday afternoon to go up 1-0 in the series.

Florida struck first with a shorthanded goal halfway through the opening period. After Nick Cousins was sent to the box for a roughing call on Vegas goaltender Adin Hill, Eric Staal scored a wraparound goal to give the Cats an early 1-0 lead.
Vegas responded with a Jonathan Marchessault wrister in the waning minutes of the first period. Marchessault’s 10th goal of the postseason evened up the scoreboard, 1-1.
Both teams would swap goals in the second period to head into the final period tied at two. Shea Theodore scored his first goal of the 2023 NHL postseason halfway through the period to put Vegas up, 2-1. Anthony Duclair evened up the score late in the second period with a solo wrist shot.
It was all Vegas in the third. The Golden Knights blanketed the Panthers 3-0 in the final period to give the Golden Knights a one-game lead in the best-of-seven series.
Zach Whitecloud, Mark Stone, and Reilly Smith all found the back of the net in a chippy third period for the Golden Knights.
The Vegas Golden Knights converted two of their seven power play opportunities into goals — although they did allow the Panthers to score shorthanded. The Panthers failed to convert on any of their three power play opportunities on Saturday night. Sloppy play, particularly in the third period, doomed the Panthers, who committed 11 penalties to Vegas’ five.
Both teams managed to get off a slew of shots, with the Cats narrowly outshooting the Knights, 35-34.
The normally sure-handed Sergei Bobrovsky didn’t have his best day in the net for the Florida Panthers. The veteran netminder saved 29 of the 34 shots he faced. Vegas’ Hill — who was buried in the depth chart months ago — saved 33 of the 35 shots he faced in goal.

Prediction for Game 2 of Stanley Cup Final: Knights Extend Series Lead
Florida started off about as well as they could, scoring first and relying on strong goaltending and timely shots in the series opener. Unfortunately for Panthers fans and bettors, the Golden Knights showed up to play in front of their home crowd.
Vegas’ goaltender Adin Hill stole the show with several impressive saves that succeeded in blowing up several of the Panthers’ quality chances. The Knights may not be able to depend upon that level of play from Hill in every game, but expect the youngster to ride that momentum into another impressive outing in Game 2 tonight.
The Panthers have never beaten the Knights in Vegas and don’t expect that tide to turn tonight. The Cats need their offense to play at the top of their game, and Florida coach Paul Maurice will bring out all the stops in an attempt to even up the series.
Few teams have managed to succeed in limiting a Vegas roster stacked with talented skaters. The Golden Knights’ 67 playoff goals lead all postseason teams this year, and standout front-liners Jack Eichel and Marchessault will keep the pressure on the Florida backline.
