Stanley Cup Final Game 4 Betting Preview
With their backs against the wall, the Florida Panthers entered Thursday’s game in a must-win situation. Only once had a team battled back from an 0-3 Stanley Cup Final deficit to win it all — and that was done over 80 years ago.
The Florida Panthers have routinely made clutch goals throughout the postseason and they did so once again in Game 3. The Panthers are 7-0 in overtime games during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, winning more games in the extra period than they have in regulation.
Matthew Tkachuk breathed life back into the Panthers with a timely goal in the final three minutes of the third period. Briefly sidelined after taking a rough hit earlier in the game, the Panthers’ star left winger buried a shot with 2:13 remaining and their goalie pulled.
Florida managed to overcome a controversial tripping call in the final seconds of the third period, which gave Vegas a man advantage in overtime.
Carter Verhaeghe converted on the wrist shot in overtime to give Florida their first win in the series. Brandon Montour also scored for the Panthers in the winning effort.
There’s a little more hope for Panthers fans now. Whereas being down 0-3 would look seemingly insurmountable, the odds are much better at 2-1. There have been 55 times in Stanley Cup history where a team was down 2-1 at this point in the series and 11 teams have managed to rally to victory.
This wasn’t the only time the Panthers had their back against the wall in this year’s playoffs. The Cats fell behind the Boston Bruins 3-1 in the opening round of the playoffs. Florida managed to stun the Bruins — who broke the NHL regular season point record — and win in Game 7.

Stanley Cup Final Game 4 Prediction
Florida earned themselves some breathing room with Thursday’s game, but will the Cats be able to even up the series in Game 4 tonight?
In our Stanley Cup Final Game 4 prediction, we’re backing the Vegas Golden Knights.
Vegas’ Jonathan Marchessault continued his impressive postseason with two goals on Thursday night. The standout skater has notched 13 goals in his last 13 games. Despite the loss, the Golden Knights still played a relatively good game. They controlled the pace of play throughout the game, dominated special teams (two goals), and held the Panthers to just 23 shots.
The Golden Knights missed on a couple of scoring opportunities they’ve traditionally converted on. Don’t bank on the Panthers getting that kind of luck again tonight.
Florida’s Cinderella run to the finals has been entertaining to watch, but the Golden Knights boast the superior roster and the Panthers needed a bit of old-fashioned luck to win on Thursday. Our Stanley Cup Final prediction has the Knights winning tonight, 4-2, and going on to hoist their first Stanley Cup on home ice.
