Just because football season is fast becoming a memory, it doesn’t mean parlay card bettors have to retreat to remembrances of things past.
The daily parlay card, in which players can parlay themselves into oblivion at odds of up to 800-1, is now available at all Station casinos.
“We’ve never had one before, but because of popular demand, we decided to put one out,” said Micah Roberts, sports book director at Palace Station. “This is something our guests have asked for, so we’re giving it to them.”Roberts said the daily parlay cards are available at all Station properties ”” Palace, Boulder, Texas, Sunset, Santa Fe, Green Valley Ranch, both Fiestas, Barley’s and the Wild Wild West.
The high odds, Roberts said, is “part of the allure” of the parlay card, whose popularity reaches its peak during football season. “Players also like the simplicity of filling out the parlay card, and marking their selections,” he said. “It’s easier than having to search out the big board for your teams, then trying to read the current lines and spreads.”
The parlay card player can bet as little as $2 on the card with an opportunity of winning $1,600 by hitting a 10-team parlay. Other payoffs include 6-for-1 for a 3-teamer, 45-for-1 for a 6-teamer and 160-for-1 for an 8-teamer.
Unlike football parlay cards, which are printed with all the teams and betting lines, daily parlay cards have only a set of numbers. Each day, the sports book prints a list of games, the betting lines and the corresponding numbers. It’s up to the player to make his selections from the daily list of games.
“Every day we post a set line on a sheet that includes all the days games,” Roberts said. “In basketball, we post totals on the TV games, in hockey we post a puck line with totals in every game, and for baseball, we’ll do the same. So far, we have been very pleased with interest from players.”
That interest is piqued by the fact that the bettor can mix games, that is, include a couple of hockey games with an NBA or college game.
“Sometimes you can’t find five or six NBA games that you like,” said one player at the Wild Wild West. “The card is nice because you can drop in one or two hockey games to round out your six-teamer. And anyone should be able to come up with at least a couple of locks in hockey, right?”
