Spread: Kansas City Chiefs -13 vs Pittsburgh Steelers +13

Following the longest season in NFL history, there’s still more football to be played. Amazingly, the Steelers will be part of it. Given less than a two percent chance to make the playoffs by Five Thirty Eight entering the final week Sunday of the season, all of the stars aligned for Pittsburgh (or maybe we should say all the hypocycloids aligned).

Pittsburgh and Kansas City will meet in a Week 16 rematch. Back then the game was played in Kansas City, just like it will be for this Wild Card Weekend matchup. Back in Week 16, the Chiefs manhandled the Steelers, winning 36-10.

The Chiefs righted themselves after a stumble-start to the season, but even though they won 12 games, they were inconsistent compared to their prior two seasons when they represented the AFC in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs were 8-9 ATS this season (the same mark as Pittsburgh).

But KC was 7-2 at home this year, and Pittsburgh was just 3-5 on the road, which means the deck is stacked heavily against Big Ben & Co. to keep their strange season going. No official word on whether this will be QB Roethlisberger’s final season, but a grisly loss at Arrowhead Stadium might hasten his decision.

Sports Betting Notes

  • Only four of the last 10 Chiefs games in Arrowhead have gone OVER.
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Pittsburgh’s last 5 games on the road.
  • The Steelers are 2-5 SU in its last 7 games on the road.
