Tom Brady has once again done the unthinkable. At age 43, the GOAT led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a dominant 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. In what many were expecting to be a high-scoring, close affair, the Buccaneers simply dominated from start to finish in pursuit of their second Super Bowl in franchise history.

Despite the poor performance by Mahomes and company, many sportsbooks have the Chiefs as favorites to win Super Bowl 2022 in Los Angeles, California. The defending champs — Tampa Bay Buccaneers — do not even have the best odds to represent the NFC according to certain sports betting sites. Let’s take a look at how the oddsmakers are envisioning who will win Super Bowl LVI.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are the clear-cut favorite to win next year’s Super Bowl. If this were to be the case, that means Patrick Mahomes and company would be reaching their fourth straight AFC Championship and third straight Super Bowl. While this is certainly a possibility, pessimists may be wary of their defense after the obvious struggles against the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV. But, Kansas City has drafted well over the last couple of years, and there are plenty of playmakers in this draft that can help them defensively.

Green Bay Packers

In the eyes of many, the Green Bay Packers are the prohibited favorites to represent the NFC in this upcoming Super Bowl. Last year, Green Bay fell one game short once again as they have lost in the NFC Championship in consecutive years. But, Packers fans remain hopeful as over the last month, they had fired defensive coordinator Mike Pettine and hired Joe Barry. Offensively, Rodgers, Jones, and Adams coupled with their offensive line should be able to produce at a high level. It is the defense that will make or break this team.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Many Tampa Bay fans feel real confident that they can repeat as Super Bowl champions despite the fact that it hasn’t been done in a decade and a half. But, their quarterback — Tom Brady — was the last to do so in ‘03-’04. Tampa Bay will have a very similar roster. While the futures of Gronk and Antonio Brown remain uncertain, their defensive group should remain intact. After all, it was their defense that propelled this Super Bowl run. At this point, does it even matter that Tom Brady will be 44 years of age next season? The guy has clearly shown he can play at an elite level and he’ll continue to believe that as we approach the next season.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo surprised many last year as they ended the regular season as arguably the best team in the entire league. The growth and maturity of Josh Allen came to fruition right before our eyes, and many are expecting him to only get better. The Bills will need to focus on two things as we approach the new calendar year. First, they need to get better at running the football. Last season, they completely abandoned the run and that came back to haunt them in the playoffs. Secondly, they need to improve in the backend. If they want to end up as Super Bowl champs, they need to do a better job of locking down in the secondary.

Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson finally earned his first playoff win after defeating the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card round. But, this team once again got exposed in the Divisional Round at Buffalo. As great of a talent as Jackson is, he struggles on the brightest stages. Main reason being is that in the playoffs, you will be going up against the best teams the further you advance. There is no denying that their defense has what it takes. But, offensively, they run into the same wall year after year. They have no legit pass-catching options as their offense is fundamentally surrounded by Jackson running, rather than passing. That must change coming into this season.

Dark Horse Teams

If you are an avid fan of the NFL, you know that each and every single year, there is that one team who can get hot at the end and make a deep playoff run. For those of you who do not know what I am talking about, they are referred to as dark horse teams.

There are three so-called dark horse teams that I have my eye on as we approach the 2021 season.

Indianapolis Colts

Last year, the Indianapolis Colts almost pulled off the upset in the Wild Card round against Buffalo. Coming into the season, not many expected an older Philip Rivers to lead this team to the promised land. But, there is no denying that this team has the talent to win a Super Bowl. With a stellar offensive line and lockdown secondary, the Colts are one piece away. That piece is the quarterback position. They have been rumored to be involved in Carson Wentz talks. If they are able to land Wentz, I really like their chances of making a deep playoff run. Their SB odds currently sit at +2500.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers were destroyed by injuries this past season. As a result of that, many forgot how dominant this team actually is. If Nick Bosa and George Kittle are able to remain healthy, they have a great shot of doing what they did two years ago: make the Super Bowl. San Francisco has one of the better offensive lines in the league and it is complimented really well by a dominant defensive front. They have been rumored to be interested in Kirk Cousins. With or without Cousins, I like their chances of making another deep run. Their SB odds currently sit at +1400.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are a sneaky pick to win Super Bowl LVI. They certainly have the pieces in place on both sides of the ball. The biggest question mark surrounding this team is their offensive line’s inability to efficiently protect Russell Wilson. Now, Wilson has made it apparent that he is frustrated with the constant pressure. Does this mean Seattle makes some aggressive moves in free agency to satisfy their star quarterback? If so, then this team can really take off next year. Their SB odds currently sit at +2200.
