Chiefs vs. Eagles Super Bowl Staff Predictions: 8-4 One Way
Victor Araiza: Big games are won by players that step up and seize the spotlight. No shade toward Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, but it’s hard to go against an inspired Mahomes. Don’t discount Andy Reid wanting to one-up his old employer, and I think you have a dangerously motivated head coach-QB tandem. Chiefs 35, Eagles 28.
Ken Bates: At the end of the day, experience is what matters. The game will be close, and like the AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs edge out their opponent by a field goal margin as Mahomes and Reid earn their second Super Bowl ring. Chiefs 27, Eagles 24.
Bob Christ: When Philadelphia ousted San Francisco 31-7 in the NFC Championship Game, much was made of how things would have been different had 49ers QB Brock Purdy not suffered an injury to his right (throwing) elbow. But that wasn’t an excuse for the 49ers’ top-ranked defense not being able to get off the field, yielding two TD drives that included seven first downs apiece. Eagles 26, Chiefs 20.
Zack Creglow: The beauty of Patrick Mahomes is that the other quarterback has to play darn near perfect for the opposing team to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Case in point: Josh Allen versus the Chiefs in the 2022 AFC Divisional Round. I know Mahomes is hobbled. I know his receivers are decimated by injuries. But Mahomes is not just a generational talent; he’s a historic one. Chiefs 38, Eagles 31.
Marcus DiNitto: I am not as enamored with Philly as the market seems to be, as there’s been about a 3-point swing from the advanced lines hung before the conference championships, and I’m not too concerned about KC’s injuries. Going from a 1.5-point favorite to a 1.5-point dog doesn’t represent great value, but it’s the Super Bowl, so you gotta bet somebody. Chiefs win in a good one. Chiefs 26, Eagles 24.

Dan Duangdao: It’s difficult to bet against Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and head coach Andy Reid, but the Philadelphia Eagles are the more complete team. The Kansas City Chiefs will keep it close, but Philadelphia’s running game and defense will lead them to victory in Super Bowl 57. Eagles 24, Chiefs 21.
David Fletcher: The Chiefs will find a way to keep it close despite being short multiple offensive weapons. However, their defense will be the ultimate cause for them coming up short, thanks to the Eagles’ run game hitting its peak in the 4th quarter. Eagles 27, Chiefs 24.
Brant James: Patrick Mahomes is a force of nature who can’t be stopped, even without wealthy wide receivers and his own injured ankle. Well, he was stopped in the Super Bowl once already, but that’s the other thing: been-there/done-that matters. Mahomes and the Chiefs have the advantage over Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. Chiefs 33, Eagles 31.
Kris Johnson: Two weeks for QB Patrick Mahomes to heal — and head coach Andy Reid to prepare? The Chiefs win in an instant classic, as Mahomes outperforms Super Bowl rookie Jalen Hurts. Chiefs 27, Eagles 24.
Carson Mundy: The NFL’s top two offenses will square off in one of the most exciting Super Bowl matchups in recent years. These two No. 1 seeds will take turns scoring, but it’ll be the Eagles’ powerhouse defense that separates the two in a back-and-forth matchup for the ages. The Chiefs’ playoff experience won’t be enough to get by Jalen Hurts and Philly in the desert. Eagles 27, Chiefs 24.
Travis Pulver: I’ve gone back and forth on who I think will win. The Eagles’ pass rush makes it tempting to go with Philly. But I think Patrick Mahomes and his talented skill position guys will get the job done. Chiefs in a nail-biter. Chiefs 27, Eagles 24.
Jim Robinson: Mahomes and the Chiefs are headed to their third Super Bowl in four years, and they’re the underdog? Um. What? No need to overthink this. I’ll take the Chiefs on the moneyline at plus odds, thank you very much. Chiefs 30, Eagles 17.
