At a time where many businesses are closing, I’m really happy to be writing about a new place that opened up.
Amore Taste of Chicago has had a location by me for a long time on Durango Drive near Flamingo Road. But just recently they opened their new location at 4330 E. Sunset Road. They remodeled the recently closed TGI Friday’s.
If you have never been to the Durango location which is currently closed for remodeling you are in for a treat. Amore’s is a Chicago sports bar and restaurant. There is Chicago sports memorabilia located on all the walls. There are 12 flat screen TV’s so you will be able to catch all of the games.
When you think of a restaurant/sports bar you might expect average bar food choices. But not at Amore’s as the food is the headliner of this establishment. They have pizza and wings, that’s a given, including deep dish and thin crust.
But if you really want a taste of Chicago, I would recommend the Italian Beef sandwich or the Chicago Dog. I have had the Italian Beef many times and it comes with crinkle cut fries that are cooked to perfection — crispy on the outside and hot and moist inside. I’m like a kid when it comes to crinkle cut fries.
They have a wide variety of sandwiches along with soups and salads. My wife is a big fan of the Southwest BBQ Chicken Salad. She gets the half order and it fills her up. If you want a really hearty salad, I would recommend the Antipasti Salad. This salad is a meal in itself loaded with Italian meats and cheeses.
They have a huge selection of Italian specialty dishes and pastas. My go-to dishes are the Chicken Parmigiana with a side of pasta, or the Gnocchi with Meat Sauce. Both dishes are a good value at $16.95. I’m a big eater and I always have leftovers when I order either dish.

They have a special they have been running for some time now. It started out as a Wednesday Only Special but became so popular they now offer the special every day. For just $14.95 you get a full slab of BBQ ribs, french fries, baked beans, cole slaw and cornbread. During the recent lockdown, I was ordering the ribs a few times a month. You can’t beat the price of this special given the quality of the food along with the portion size.
You usually will be stuffed by the time you get to dessert but if you still have room, they have mini cannoli. Get an order of 4 for just $5.95 and I can’t think of a better way to end a good meal.
I have to admit I’m jealous how nice the new Henderson location has turned out as I really did enjoy watching the game and eating not your normal bar food. Even though it’s a Chicago bar, Lori and I went there dressed in Golden Knights gear and our waitress took us to a table that had the VGK logo on it as we watched Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoff series with the Blackhawks in a Chicago bar.
Whether you want a nice dinner with the Mrs. or you want to enjoy some drinks and good food with the guys while watching the games, I highly recommend checking out Amore Taste of Chicago. I give them 3.75 Forks.
