One team was expected to be here all season long.

The other is the Cinderella Story of the NFL, trying to extend its season, figuratively speaking, past midnight.

That’s the backdrop for the heavily favored Baltimore Ravens hosting the upstart Houston Texans in the NFL Divisional Round.

Much has unfolded since the Ravens toppled the Texans 25-9 in Week 1.

Here’s a look at Texans vs Ravens prediction, odds, and best bets.

Texans vs Ravens Betting News

The league’s top feel-good story and most improved team, riding a dynamic youth movement.

Rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans, 39, was an All-Pro linebacker for these Texans and later the Philadelphia Eagles. He kept a steady hand after Houston began 0-2, helping the Texans achieve a rare height.

Since 1990, only 31 of 270 teams starting 0-2 reached the playoffs before this season. Or, roughly, one in nine.

But Houston made it and completed its surge from a 3-13-1 campaign in 2022 to finish 10-7.

Rides the electrifying rise of rookie quarterback CJ Stroud and receiver Nico Collins.

Reached the playoffs by sweating out a 23-19 season finale over the Indianapolis Colts. Rescued by a dropped pass that probably would have given Indy the lead in the final minute.

Followed with a stunning 45-14 Wild Card beatdown over the Cleveland Browns at +2.5. That turned the tables on a team that had blasted the Texans 36-22 three weeks earlier without Stroud.

Since returning for the last three games, Stroud has thrown 24 passes to Collins, who has caught an astounding 22 of them.

Collins has averaged more than 123 receiving yards in Stroud’s return. On two occasions this year, he surpassed 191 yards.

Stroud has been razor-sharp in the last three games. He has thrown six touchdowns and no interceptions.

Defense has also risen. It held the Tennessee Titans to three points, contained the Colts, and then authored two Pick 6s against the Browns.

Analysts are raving about the team’s unexpected poise and composure.

This game will test it.

Compiled the best AFC record at 13-4 and are the odds-on favorite across the sportsbook landscape to win the conference.

Scored the second most points in the AFC (483) and yielded the least (280).

Scored eye-opening home victories over the Detroit Lions (38-6) and the Miami Dolphins (56-19). It delivered one of the biggest road beatdowns of the season, throttling the No. 1 NFC-seeded San Francisco 49ers, 33-19. The Ravens picked Niners quarterback Brock Purdy four times.

Notched three consecutive covers down the stretch before dropping a 17-10 season finale to the Pittsburgh Steelers when resting its starters.

Entered the postseason with the swagger of a team expected to go far.

Sports a playmaker in quarterback Lamar Jackson, along with offensive depth. Jackson led the team in rushing with 821 yards, unusual for a quarterback. Gus Edwards was next with 810.

Breakout receiver Zay Flowers led the team with 856 receiving yards. Odell Beckham Jr. added 565.

Texans vs Ravens Injury Updates

Mark Andrews returned to the practice field for Baltimore and may play after missing several games with an ankle injury.

The star tight end had 45 receptions on 61 targets with six touchdowns.

Bettors will watch announcements on Andrews. Isaiah Likely emerged as a potent backup with five touchdowns and looks every bit as good as Andrews.

The pair combined for 955 yards and 11 touchdowns, exceptional production from this position.

Andrews will be expected to have a big game, but bettors must decide if this is a platoon situation hurting the prop value of each player.

Texans vs Ravens Betting Intangibles

The Ravens resting starters in the season finale amounts to a three-week period between games for top players like Jackson.

This burned Baltimore in 2019, the last time it earned the No. 1 seed. The Ravens rested their starters in the season finale, gained the bye week for the top seed, and promptly lost 28-12 to the Tennessee Titans at -10.

While that strategy was second-guessed, the opposite effect just happened with the Detroit Lions. Detroit played all its starters in a 30-20 season finale victory over the Minnesota Vikings despite being essentially locked into the No. 3 seed. Detroit lost star tight end Sam LaPorta to an injury in that game.

It looked like LaPorta would miss the playoff opener, but he made an unexpected recovery and contributed a touchdown to the Lions’ 24-23 triumph over the Rams.

Over the last decade, the top-seeded teams are 16-4 in their first playoff game, an 80%-win percentage. The teams that lost were the 2016 Dallas Cowboys, 2019 Ravens, and 2021 Titans and Green Bay Packers.
