I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas weekend and will all have a very good New Year weekend. We have plenty on our menu this week and will get right to it.

I had the right idea with my unders in the NFL last week as I went 5-2, but they cost me a seven team parlay. At least I didn’t need to sweat it. This week the NFL is very dangerous for the bookies and bettors but I do have four games to play and will pass those along after my college bowl selections.

BOWLS

Tuesday, Dec. 27

Purdue -2 vs. Western Mich: Both times the Broncos played a Big Ten team this year they lost. PURDUE.

Wednesday, Dec. 28

Air Force +3½ vs. Toledo: I just love taking these military schools in bowl games and may make a little money line bet on the fly boys also. AIR FORCE.

Texas -3 vs. California: After watching Arizona State last week I will try and stay clear of the Pac 12. TEXAS.

Thursday, Dec. 29

Florida St -3 vs. Notre Dame: I see the Seminoles defense controlling this game as the overrated Fighting Irish go down. Sorry about that Longo. FLORIDA ST.

Wash +9½ vs. Baylor (79): Since I can’t bet on the Huskies or lay the lumber with the Bears, I will just deal with the total in this track meet. OVER.

BYU -1 vs. Tulsa: I just love the way the Cougars finished up the season going 3-0 SU and ATS. BYU.

Iowa St +2 vs. Rutgers: One of my best bets. The Cyclones have a big class edge in this game and own wins over Oklahoma State, Iowa and Texas Tech. IOWA ST (BEST BET).

W. Forest +6½ vs. Miss St (48): This looks to be a real defensive game. UNDER.

Friday, Dec, 30

Iowa +14 ½ vs. Oklahoma: The Hawkeyes defense should be able to keep this game within the big point spread. IOWA.

N’western +10 vs. Texas A&M: The Aggies covered only five games this season and the Wildcats can get on the board. Remember, they did beat Nebraska straight up getting 17. NORTHWESTERN.

Utah +3 vs. Ga Tech: The Utes will get the fan base and their defense will be the key. UTAH.

Illinois -3 vs. UCLA: If the Illini could beat Arizona State plus hang with Penn State and Wisconsin, they can beat the Bruins by a field goal. ILLINOIS.

Cincinnati +3 vs. Vanderbilt: This battle will go down to the wire. CINCINNATI.

Auburn -2½ vs. Virginia: The Tigers have gone 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in their last four bowl games. AUBURN.

Monday, Jan. 2

Penn St +7 vs. Houston: The Lions own a huge class edge here and could get the win despite all their problems this year. PENN ST.

Michigan St +3½ vs. Georgia: I love the way the Spartans finished up their good 10-2 season going 3-0 SU and ATS. MICH ST.

Nebraska +1½ vs. S.Carolina. (47): This looks to be a low scoring affair. S. CAROLINA and UNDER.

Ohio St vs. Florida: The Buckeyes will be high as a kite to win after getting the crummy NCAA bowl ban for next year. I think they should ban the NCAA for anti trust laws. OHIO ST (money line).

Wisconsin +6 vs. Oregon: One of the more entertaining bowls to watch. The Badgers could pull off the upset. WISCONSIN.

Okla St -3 ½ vs. Stanford: The third-ranked Cowboys make a statement in the Fiesta Bowl. OKLA ST.

I will cover the remaining bowl games in next week’s column.

NFL

Sunday, Jan. 1

In the final week of regular season things can get very dicey with teams that want to win and ones that have clinched and just don’t want to get anyone hurt.

Be very selective in your plays. I will – only betting four.

EAGLES -9

BENGALS +3

BROWNS +10

RAIDERS -3

Have a Happy New Year.
