LA Chargers (-1) at Browns (44): Cleveland continues to improve and impress on both sides of the football. The defense has already faced a pair of elite QBs in their opening-week tie in Pittsburgh and in their three-point loss at New Orleans the next. The notoriously slow-starting Chargers have won two in a row, but both were at home. The Browns are now 2-0-1 SU at home and the crowd has been engaged for the first time in years. Chargers QB Philip Rivers has been known to try to do too much in the late stages of games and that could be the determining factor here as the Browns are starting to learn how to win. BROWNS

Bears (-3) at Dolphins (43): Miami returns home after back to back losses that followed a 3-0 start. Chicago had its Bye last week that followed an impressive 48-10 home win over Tampa Bay. Although the Dolphins are stepping down in class here after losses in New England and Cincinnati the Bears are a team poised to show continued improvement. BEARS

Panthers (Pick) at Redskins (45): Washington was in the wrong place at the wrong time Monday might, losing in that emotionally charged atmosphere to QB Drew Brees and the Saints on Monday. Carolina’s defense, thought to be its strength, has been below average thus far. REDSKINS
