There are so many great steakhouses here in Las Vegas and this week I got to try another for the first time. It was a guy’s steak night and we went to Tom Colicchio’s Heritage Steak located inside the Mirage Resort Hotel and Casino.

What makes Colicchio’s different from most steakhouses is the fact Tom loves to cook with fire. The minute you walk by the restaurant and step inside you will smell the aroma of the wood-fired grill.

The restaurant design is an open floor plan, with an open kitchen that allows you to enjoy the smell of the cooking and see the flames of the grill. I also like where the steakhouse is located as you come in from the main entrance to the hotel and head into the casino. Too often the restaurants are tucked away in a back corner of the casino.

Colicchio’s Heritage Steak is located just a few steps from the poker room and there is no better way to celebrate a big score at the poker table than with a big juicy steak.

There were four of us on this visit and a couple of the guys ordered the Seafood Tower as their appetizer and were quite glad they did. I was disappointed that I didn’t. Trust me, that won’t happen next time.

The Seafood Tower consists of king crab, white shrimp, lobster and yellowtail. This is a great way to start any meal. I ordered a Caesar Salad that was different than your standard one as their version had a soft cooked egg and pickled white anchovy. I was very happy with my salad but it wasn’t the Seafood Tower.

Colicchio’s offers several different types of steak as they have grass fed beef, dry aged beef and Japanese Wagyu steak. For me, I decided on the New York Strip and was very happy with my choice. The steak was cooked right to the temperature I ordered and was very flavorful. Everyone in our party enjoyed their steaks so the night was a huge success.

At this point I was full but because we hung out catching up for a while we decided on dessert. For my choice I went with Chocolate Coconut Ice Cream Cake. This was an interesting dish as it had Torched Marshmallow, Mud Cake and Fudgesicle ice cream. It was the perfect ending to a great meal.

The overall atmosphere and experience is what you would expect from a high-end Las Vegas steakhouse. The service was excellent between our waiter and his bus staff, they attended to all of our needs. I give Tom Colicchio’s Heritage Steak a rating of 3.5 Forks.
