This week we didn’t go to a restaurant. Instead I went to a food truck and ordered take out. This food truck was so good that I had to share it with you.
Mr. Ribs & Mrs. Rice is located at 4120 Spring Mountain Road. You have probably passed it 100 times like I have and never thought twice about stopping. They make some of the best BBQ I have had in Las Vegas. You can’t miss the truck as it sits in the corner of the parking lot that houses Play it Again Sam Gentleman’s Club.
On my visit I ordered three different items. My wife wanted the brisket sandwich, which came with an order of fries and cole slaw for $9.99. The brisket was excellent and was served on an incredible pretzel bun. My wife loved it and couldn’t stop raving about the bun. She let me have a bite of it and I fully concurred with her opinion. The brisket was very lean but still extremely moist.
I couldn’t decide between the Ribs and Wings. No man should have to choose between the two so for information purposes I did what any good reporter would do and ordered both. Not to be a total pig I ordered the half rack of ribs that came with fries for $12.99. The ribs were cooked perfectly with plenty of meat with a nice dry rub seasoning finished with their BBQ sauce. I absolutely loved the ribs and felt it can’t possibly get any better, can it? Well not until I tasted the wings.
Normally I do not like wings cooked on a grill simply because the wings usually turn out one of two ways. First, the wings are generally not crispy and I hate biting into a wing that doesn’t have a little crunch on the outside. Generally you can’t get that desired crispness on the grill. The second most common problem is if they do try to get them crispy all you taste is char from the grill because they over cooked them. That wasn’t the case with Mr. Ribs & Mrs. Rice chicken wings.
First they slow cook them for two hours giving them that smoky taste. Then they fry them to get that desired crunch and toss in the sauce of your choice. The lady recommended their Buffalo/BBQ sauce, which is just what the name implies. They combine Buffalo and BBQ sauces to give the wings a spicy yet sweet BBQ taste. These are my new favorite wings. Just trust me when I tell you that you will love them. You can thank me later. An order of 10 wings is $11 and worth every penny.
I only wish they had a place to really sit down and enjoy the food right there as the drive home with the great smell of BBQ is sheer torture. They do have a couple of tables by the food truck but sitting in the 100-degree heat in the parking lot of a strip club is probably not the best place to take a date. But if that’s my only complaint we are good because the BBQ is that good.
I haven’t reviewed a food truck before but I’m going to make my first one 4 forks, which is my highest rating.
