Now that Memorial Day has come and gone it is officially summer for me. I don’t know about you but summertime means burgers and BBQ to me, so in the coming weeks I will be trying to hit some of the new burger joints around town.
One thing is for sure, there is no shortage. Our fair share of new burger places have popped up over the Las Vegas valley the last couple of years.
The burger craze has been fueled by gourmet burgers created by some of the more notable chefs. Bobby Flay has thrown his hat in the ring with his Bobby’s Burger Palace (3750 S. Las Vegas Blvd.)
When you visit Bobby’s it’s a combination of fast food appeal with a gourmet burger as you step up to the counter to order and then sit down and wait for your order to be delivered to your table.
I can tell you what comes to your table is nothing close to a fast food burger. Bobby’s Burger menu consists of 11 specialty burgers and each month they have a Burger of the Month. You can also custom build your burger however you like.
I went with their Crunch Burger. Now I’ve got to tell you, I may have missed my calling because world famous chef Bobby Flay decided to put potato chips on top of his burger patty and now it’s a Gourmet Crunch Burger.
I was doing that when I was a kid over 40 years ago. Who knew I could have been a gourmet chef? It’s a simple idea and, yes, it was a tasty combination, just how I remembered it as a kid.
The burger patty was a huge certified angus beef patty and you could get it cooked at whatever temperature you wanted. I hate places that won’t serve you a burger with the pink still showing.
Some of the other burgers available were the Philadelphia Burger, which is a spinoff of a Philly cheesesteak, the Bobby Blue with blue cheese and bacon, and the Brunch Burger, which has a fried egg, smoked bacon and cheese.
Be sure to get some fries and dip them in the special sauce, which I enjoyed immensely. Bobby’s Burger Palace also serves Ground Turkey Burgers as well as whole Chicken Breast done in any of the specialty Burger choices.
You can also order gourmet shakes with flavors such as Black and White, Mocha, Pistachio and Coconut. I you want a milkshake with some kick check out their Spiked Milkshakes. You can get Vanilla Caramel Bourbon, Pineapple Coconut Rum or a Mocha Kahlua Vodka. I mean this is Vegas Baby, and you are on the Strip, so live it up.
The burgers were priced reasonably, considering what some of the other gourmet burger shops on the Strip are charging, going for $8.50 or $9.50. A lot of the others are $15 or more.
Fries are separate but you get a big order for $4 and with the special fry sauce they are great.
Of the newer burger places on the Strip I put Bobby’s Burger Palace in my Top 3. I give it 3.75 Forks out of 4.
