Last June, then-light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira failed to defend his belt against Jiri “Denisa” Prochazka at UFC 275. Six months later, it’s now Prochazka who puts the title on the line against the very man who he stole it from.

The rematch takes place in the main event of UFC 282 on Dec. 10 at the T-Mobile Arena. There’s a lot to unpack for this pay-per-view event, so we’re laying out the UFC 282 odds, props, and picks to help bettors know how to bet on this stacked card.

UFC 282 Main Event Odds: Prochazka vs. Teixeira

Prochazka defeated his 13-year-older opponent by fifth-round submission to snatch the latter’s belt. The Czech fighter was a two-to-one favorite in the first go-around and is rightfully chalked in the sequel.

Oddsmakers favor Prochazka — priced between -200 and -225 on the moneyline as of Nov. 16 — again over Teixeira, whose odds are between +168 and +175.

Preceding the headliner is another 205-pound matchup between No. 2 contender and former champion Jan Blachowicz (between +180 and +200) and No. 3 contender Magomed Ankalaev (between -220 and -250). The winner is likely to be the next title challenger against the winner of Prochazka vs. Teixeira.

Also on the main card is a lightweight bout between the fan-favorite Paddy Pimblett (between -178 and -200) and Jordan Gordon (between +150 and +170).

Prochazka vs. Teixeira 2 Betting Preview

Prochazka (29-3-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has been in 33 MMA bouts in his career, but only three of them have been in the UFC. Still, three was all he needed to reach UFC gold.

A former Rizin Light Heavyweight Champion, Denisa opened his UFC career with consecutive second-round knockouts against ranked light heavyweights Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes.

He then earned his first shot at the belt in his next bout. In one of the wildest and most entertaining title fights in UFC history, the challenger was able to land a rear-naked choke in the dying seconds of the fifth round to become the first Czech fighter to win a UFC championship.

Prochazka is a Muay Thai specialist who seemingly finishes every opponent that dare faces him. Out of his 33 career fights, only one has gone to the scorecards, which he won.

Teixeira (33-8 MMA, 16-6 UFC) is one of the grandpas of the UFC, being that he’s 43 years old. But it’s not like he’s just fighting for the sake of fighting. The man is still either at or near his apex.

Teixeira was caught in the middle of the Jon Jones era. The Brazilian challenged — and lost to — the GOAT in a failed title bid at UFC 172 in 2014. However, he would later return to the championship stage in 2021 by submitting Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267 to become the oldest first-time champion in promotional history.

Of course, Teixeira would end up losing the title to Prochazka in his very next appearance. However, despite the defeat, he has reminded everyone that he hasn’t succumbed to Father Time just yet. Before facing Denisa, the 43-year-old was the underdog in three straight fights against the likes of Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, and Blachowicz — and still finished all three opponents.

He isn’t the greatest light heavyweight fighter the company has ever seen, but he is one of the most legendary. He has the most wins (16), most finishes (13), and second-most submissions (seven) by a 205-pounder.
