Kai Kara-France (24-10 MMA, 7-3 UFC) Is Wanting Another Crack at a Flyweight Title

He had a shot last year in an interim title fight against current undisputed champ Brandon Moreno. The fight ended with a nasty body kick that shut down Kara-France’s liver and ended the fight.

Prior to that, Kara-France has put together a three-fight win streak which included an impressive decision over Askar Askarov and first-round finishes over Cody Garbrandt and Rogerio Bontorin.

With his back-to-back knockouts, the small New Zealander has shown he can still be dangerous on the feet in the UFC. Prior to that, his only UFC victories had come by decision.

A win for Kara-France would not mean a shot at the title again, especially if Moreno is still champion after July. Kara-France has lost to Moreno twice now in his UFC career and there are a handful of contenders still circling around and exciting prospects coming up.

Amir Albazi (16-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) Has Risen Up the Flyweight Rankings Quickly and He’s Looking for That No. 3 Spot

His UFC resume has wins over Alessandro Costa, Francisco Figueiredo, Zhalgas Zhumagulov, and Malcolm Gordon.

Three of his four wins came by finish with two submissions and one knockout. His only career loss happened in Brave CF against Jose Torres back in 2019. Since then, he’s 5-0.

A win for Albazi would give him Kara-France’s ranking and would give him endless options for fights in the division. He has had some bad luck with opponent injuries and fights that never happened since being in the UFC. So he could revisit some of those options like Brandon Royval, who has been very impressive as of late.

While this fight doesn’t necessarily have direct title implications, this is an important fight to help sort out what’s to come in the division while everyone waits to see what happens between Moreno and Alexandre Pantoja next month.
