UFC Fight Night Betting Preview: Luque vs. Dos Anjos

Luque Looks to Rebound From Back-to-Back Losses

It’s been just over a year since Vicente Luque (21-9 MMA, 14-5 UFC) last fought.

The No. 10-ranked, 31-year-old is looking to bounce back after losing to Geoff Neal and Belal Muhammad last year.

The losses came after an impressive four-fight finish streak over Tyron Woodley, Michael Chiesa, Randy Brown, and Niko Price.

His resume also includes victories over Mike Perry, Bryan Barberena, Niko Price a second time, Jalin Turner, and Thiago Santos.

His other UFC losses? Champion Leon Edwards, Stephen Thompson, and Mike Graves.

This should be a good, true mixed martial arts matchup as both guys have jiu-jitsu skills, but also have shown they can stand on their feet and produce knockouts. It will be interesting to see which way they decide to take the fight.

A win here is much needed for Luque to get back on track. But it’s not like the UFC threw him a tune-up opponent. Hell, Luque is the slight underdog across the sportsbooks. So it won’t be easy pickings to get back in the W column.

But we will see what the last year outside of the Octagon has done for him.

RDA Hopes for Back-to-Back Wins

Rafael Dos Anjos (32-14 MMA, 21-12 UFC) has fought almost everyone who has been anyone across two divisions over the last 15 years.

And he’s not done. He’s coming off a submission win over Barberena in which he proved he is not a journeyman for prospects.

Dos Anjos is 4-5 over the last five years, but his losses aren’t against chumps: Leon Edwards, Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington, Michael Chiesa, and Rafael Fiziev.

The UFC has always given Dos Anjos tough fights, but that’s because he’s one of those fighters who is always about it. He’s beaten many guys just like him: Nate Diaz, Donald Cerrone, Robbie Lawler, Anthony Pettis, and Benson Henderson.

Other notable losses include Khabib Nurmagomedov, Eddie Alvarez, and Tony Ferguson.

RDA doesn’t really need wins at this point, but he definitely can’t have a bad loss. The UFC will keep him around if he would like, but hey, RDA in the PFL would be kind of exciting.

Again, he is the slight favorite in this matchup, which may come as a surprise to some. But RDA is pretty durable and a fight that goes to a decision would likely be in his favor.

This is one of those weird main events where two known names are matched up, but there’s really no certainty in what’s next for either fighter with a win. Neither is on a streak or a couple of fights away from title contention.

This is just a fight and maybe that will be OK.
