What can motivation do for a group of young men? Just ask Tony Sanchez the head football coach of UNLV, who has this team well coached and playing at 100%. Great job, Tony, and we hope you fill those stands this week vs. San Jose State who beat the Rebs last year on the road, 33-10.
We had another very good week with our plays in college and pro and have some more this week. So let’s get right to the games and see if we can keep the hot streak going.
CFB Last Week: 10-2-0
CFB Season: 25-14-1
Thursday – NCAA Football
SMU +21.5 at Houston: Don’t like to lay this much wood but in this instance we will with the 4-0 Cougars, who are 7-0 ATS from Game 2 out when favored by 20 or more points when playing a team whose win percentage is .333 or less. SMU is 1-4 with the only win coming at the expense of lowly North Texas. HOUSTON.
Washington +17 at USC: The Huskies took a week off after a hard fought 30-24 loss to California and are much better than their 2-2 record. UW has also gone 8-0 ATS, getting an extra week’s rest when playing a Conference team. WASHINGTON.
Friday – NCAA Football
So. Miss +7 at Marshall: The Thundering Herd not thundering as much as last year when they beat Southern Miss, 63-17. The Herd has gone 0-7 as favorites of 24 or less. Marshall vs. is a team with revenge on its mind and the Golden Eagles have covered all five of their games this year. SO. MISS.
Saturday – NCAA Football
Virginia +7.5 at Pittsburgh: The Cavaliers have gone 10-0 ATS as a road dog off back-to-back ATS losses vs. a .750 or less team in their next game. The 3-1 Panthers fit the bill. VIRGINIA.
East Carolina +7.5 at BYU: The Pirates are a very good dog and have really turned things around after losing to Navy. They have covered their last two games, while BYU has gone 0-7 ATS as favorites of 23 or less points in the second off back-to-back home games. ECU.
Navy +14 at Notre Dame: Speaking about the Navy, well here they are and getting a juicy two TD’s. The Midshipmen catch the Irish off a huge effort at Clemson last weekend. Last year the score was 49-39 with the Irish also a two TD chalk. Notre Dame has gone 0-7 ATS vs. a team with revenge that is coming off of back-to-back double digit wins. Navy fits the bill along with being 7-0 ATS when coming off back-to-back wins and then playing a team with a winning record. NAVY.
Miami (Fla.) +10 at Florida State: Good dog play. The Canes have gone 8-0 as a road dog of 15 or less points when coming off back-to-back ATS losses. To make things better the Seminoles have gone 0-6 ATS as favorites of 3 or more points when meeting a team who is .500 or better coming off a straight up loss as the favorite. Miami may have been looking ahead last week when losing to Cincy. MIAMI.
Northwestern +7.5 at Michigan: The sendout in this game was Michigan -12. I would have got money out of my IRA if I had a shot at that number! Last year the Wildcats lost to Michigan in Evanston, 10-9, and have had this game circled. These Cats beat Stanford 16-6 and the Cardinal have crushed people since. NW is giving up an average of just 7 points a game and to say they will be fired up for this contest is an understatement. The Wolverines play some big defense also and have given up an average of just 4.6 ppg in their last three games since an opening week 24-17 loss at Utah. We see a very close, low scoring game. NORTHWESTERN/UNDER.
Florida -3.5 at Missouri: Not much mention of first year head coach Jim McElwain and his 5-0 Gators but we see them here at GT. Florida seeks revenge from losses to Mizzu the last two years. The Tigers from Columbia may have been winning with defense, giving up an average of just 12 ppg but were exposed by Kentucky in a 21-13 defeat. They just did get by U Conn 9-6. FLORIDA/UNDER.
Sunday – Pro Football
NFL Last Week: 1-0-0
NFL Season: 4-2-0
Seahawks +1 at Bengals: Just a great spot for the big cats as Seattle played Monday and now travels into a new time zone to play a morning game. The Bengals look to move to 5-0. BENGALS.
Broncos -5.5 at Raiders: Denver winning with defense but it won’t be enough this time for not-so-strong-armed Manning. We will be taking the points again in a game much the same as this past Sunday with the Vikings. RAIDERS.
Note: I would like to thank all my readers for their emails telling me about the 10 team parlays. Keep playing them because as you all know by now, you could be walking around lucky and not even know it.
