Betting on the 2022 US Open is picking up at sportsbooks across the country including the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas.

Sharp money came in on two US Open matchup bets in particular, according to SuperBook USA vice president of risk management Jeff Sherman.

In a text to Gaming Today on Tuesday, Sherman said that sharps jumped on Dustin Johnson at -120 over Brooks Koepka, and Louis Oousthuizen at -115 over Tyrell Hatton.

As of Tuesday, Sherman identified these players as the ticket count leaders in the SuperBook’s primary US Open betting market:

  1. Rory McIlory
  2. Justin Thomas
  3. Scottie Scheffler
  4. Xander Schauffele
  5. Collin Morikawa

In terms of betting handle at the SuperBook, the list of players looked like this:

  1. Scottie Scheffler
  2. Bryson DeChambeau
  3. Jon Rahm
  4. Rory McIlroy
  5. Justin Thomas

Major Line Movements At The SuperBook

There have been some large odds fluctuations for big-name players entering the US Open on Thursday. DeChambeau’s odds lengthened from +2500 to +10000 at the SuperBook. Phil Mickelson’s odds ballooned from +12500 to +30000.

US Open betting odds shortened for a couple of players who’ve flashed good form in recent events. Harold Varner III’s odds dropped from +12500 to +6000, and Justin Rose ticked down from +10000 to +6000 as of Tuesday.

Overall, Sherman noted the SuperBook has liabilities on Scheffler, DeChambeau, and Sam Burns.

McIlroy A Consensus Favorite At Commercial Sportsbooks

McIlroy, who picked up a victory in last week’s Canadian Open in Toronto, was the betting favorite to win the US Open at DraftKings, BetMGM, and FanDuel. His odds ranged from +1000 to +1100. Here are the top-10 betting favorites to win the US Open at DraftKings as of Tuesday:

Morikawa, Scheffler Took Heavy Early Action at BetMGM

Collin Morikawa led the early action in advanced U.S. Open wagering at BetMGM. Morikawa owned the largest handle (12.2%) and was second in the ticket count at 6.4%.

Masters champion Scottie Scheffler was also a popular choice to win. Scheffler had the most tickets written on him at 9.2%.

BetMGM also took a $4,000 win bet on Tommy Fleetwood at +6600 that will pay out $264,000 if Fleetwood captures his first major victory this week.

There are 156 players in the 2022 US Open field, and BetMGM offered rankings on all of them in this exhaustive list.
