The USWNT are looking for a three-peat in the 2023 Women’s World Cup after claiming the trophy in 2015 and 2019. While last week’s matchup against Vietnam resulted in a 3-0 win for the U.S., there is stronger competition coming the women’s way. Here, we look at USA vs. Netherlands odds, props, and predictions.

What lies ahead Wednesday night (9 p.m. ET, Fox) for the USA is a rematch of the 2019 Women’s World Cup Final. Four years ago, the U.S. walked away with a 2-0 victory, raising the trophy for the fourth time.

Will the U.S. claim victory against the Netherlands again this year, or will the 2019 runners-up get revenge by pulling off the upset?

USA Women’s Betting News

This year’s roster is filled with a mix of experienced star players and up-and-coming first-time World Cup participants. The leaders of this squad include Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Lindsey Horan, and Crystal Dunn. With two World Cup titles under their belt, their experience and toughness have been passed down to rising stars like Sophia Smith, Trinity Rodman, and Alyssa Thompson. The starting XI showcases this diversity.

The USWNT won their first group stage match against Vietnam, recording three goals and a clean sheet. In the 3-0 victory, young star Sophia Smith notched a brace in her World Cup debut. Proving not to let the nerves of playing on the world’s stage get to her, the 22-year-old kept cool and scored two goals, and she is one of three women in the tournament to do so this far.

The third goal was scored by captain Lindsey Horan in the 77th minute. Co-captain Alex Morgan missed a penalty in the 44th minute but did contribute an assist to Smith in the USWNT’s first goal in the tournament. With 28 shots against Vietnam, the team needs to be able to finish as they face a tough competitor looking to avenge their loss to the U.S. in the 2019 World Cup Final.

Netherlands Betting News

The Netherlands met Portugal in their WWC opener and walked away with a 1-0 win, thanks to an early goal by Stefanie van der Gragt in the 13th minute. The Netherlands held possession for the majority of the game and got 12 shots off but were unable to find the back of the net more than once.

On the 23-player roster, the Netherlands have 12 returning players from the 2019 WWC team. Their squad is also experienced in international and World Cup matches. While the last match was a low scoring one for the Netherlands, they scored at least four goals in three of their four matches prior to this tournament. In their two most recent major international tournaments, the Dutch reached the quarterfinals in both the 2021 Olympics and the 2022 Women’s Euros.

USA vs. Netherlands Predictions

USA did not perform to the level many analysts believe they are capable of in their match against Vietnam, and the Netherlands also had a hard time finding the back of the net. Both games were part of the trend that has seen the Under go 15-3 through the first 15 games of this tournament.

The USA is 4-1-0 in their last five matches against the Netherlands and Wednesday will not look any different.
