After trying out new places the last few weeks it was time to hit one of my old spots.

It’s always nice experiencing new places but given the times we are experiencing, I try to support places that have been around for a long time as they really need our support more than ever whether you dine in or order takeout.

This week I went to Ventano Italian Grill & Seafood located at 191 S. Arroyo Grande Blvd. in Henderson. When I moved to Las Vegas back in 2008, one of the first places I dined at was Ventano’s. I used to eat there often when I lived on that side of town. But since I moved to the West side of town, it’s been a while. But I found myself in Henderson and decided it was time to go back.

I’m glad I did.

One of my favorite dishes at Ventano’s is actually an appetizer and it’s been their signature appetizer forever. It’s their Grilled Shrimp on the Stone. They bring out a mound of shrimp sizzling on a granite stone. They also have a Baby Lamb Chop version of this appetizer and they both are so good.

This is a great appetizer to share and the aroma from the sizzling shrimp or lamb can’t be beat. Honestly, I could order both and a salad and call it day. But I’m here for more.

The menu is pretty extensive as they have lots of options, so no matter what you are hungry for, there is something for everybody. They have all kinds of Italian entrees and pastas. Lori went with her go-to dish — Chicken Parmigiana — and was happy as usual.

My go-to dish is the Veal Saltimbocca, which is sautéed with prosciutto, sage & white wine. It also comes with sautéed Spinach and Roasted Potatoes. This is a dish I highly recommend, but I wanted to try something different and went with the Ventano Spiedini which is lightly breaded pounded chicken cutlets, rolled and stuffed with parmesan and mozzarella, skewered & sautéed then topped with a pomodoro sauce. This dish is huge as you get six pieces of chicken and a side of pasta. I had leftovers for lunch the next day.

One of the other things I like about Ventano’s is the view you have as the restaurant sits on a hill that looks back to the Las Vegas Strip. Maybe it’s me, but I never get tired of that view and makes for a nice romantic setting for a dinner with your special someone.

Save room for dessert as they have a big selection. Or try one of their after-dinner coffees. The Chocolate Nuts is so good as it’s Chocolate liqueur, Frangelico liqueur with fresh brewed coffee and whipped cream. I give Ventano Italian Grill & Seafood a rating of 3.75 Forks.
