Don’t get old!

Last Monday this handicapper and bettor sat down at my trusty computer with one thing in my forgetful mind – give out Auburn to beat Alabama.

What happened is one of those senior moments, as my mind told me every time I tried to beat Bama I lost. That thought played a dirty trick on not only myself, but also my faithful readers.

Also, my surge teams forgot to keep surging as we went 0-4 with our plays last week but 2-0 in our 2 for Tuesday plays.

I have been getting a lot of emails asking me how my high school alma mater, Steubenville Big Red, is doing in football. They are coached by the legendary Ohio High School Hall of Fame coach and my friend Reno Saccoccia.

Reno has led this year’s team to a 14-0 record and they play this week for the Ohio Division IV State Championship vs. a team called Clinton-Massie.

The game will be at noon PT in Canton. All we can say is Go Red!

This is Championship Week in college football with some huge games. We will try to get back on the winning end barring a brain freeze or one of those senior moments.

It all starts this Friday, Dec. 1. Where did the season go?

PAC 12

Stanford +3 vs. USC: The Trojans beat the Cardinal in their first meeting this year, 42-24. Stanford beat the Irish this past Saturday, 38-20, and the Irish recently crushed USC, 49-14 in South Bend. But since that win against Stanford, USC has gone 2-8 ATS. The good news for the Trojans is they have had an extra week to rest and prepare. In a real close game we will back the rested team. USC

AAC

Memphis +7 vs. UCF (85.5): One of the biggest turnarounds for a team happened to the UCF Knights, who went 0-12 in 2015 and then Scott Frost was hired. In just two years he has them undefeated but it looks like he could be leaving for greener pastures as he makes only $1.7 million a year and could make $4 million if he takes the Nebraska job or even more if he can get the Florida opening. So lots of green on the Frost.

These rivals met back in September and UCF just massacred the Tigers, 40-13. Why the high total and only 7 points?

Well, UCF was a -5.5 point chalk in the first meeting so we think -7 looks like a great line for two-way action. We see revenge in the air here and last week UCF was life and death to get past USF by 7. This one is a take all the way. MEMPHIS

SEC

Georgia +3 vs. Auburn: These two met on Nov. 11 in Auburn in what was a must win game for the Tigers. They crushed the Bulldogs, 40-17, when getting 3 points at home. Now they are a -3 point favorite on a neutral site. Looking back, Auburn lost to Clemson in Game 2 of the season at Clemson, 14-6 – a game they could have won. They lost at Baton Rouge to a very good LSU team, 27-23, another game they could have won.

My astute brother Tom and my all-knowing dog Dino said Auburn is the best team in the country and they have made me a believer. Yes, Georgia is in big time revenge mood but no more senior moments here. War Eagle! AUBURN

ACC

Miami, Fla. +9 vs. Clemson: Wow, just two weeks ago Miami was great and now after getting exposed by Pitt they are getting +9 in Charlotte. What a difference a week makes in college football!

We will forgive the Clemson loss at Syracuse when losing their starting QB in the first half or they would be undefeated. Clemson has a great coach in Dabo Sweeney who is no stranger to a big game. Clemson is the better team, owns the superior defense and has the better coach. Need we say more? CLEMSON

Big Ten

Ohio State -5.5 vs. Wisconsin (53): Talking to my cousin Greg Lamatrice back in Columbus who asked how can the Buckeyes be the favorite vs. undefeated Wisconsin? He told me the backup QB Dwayne Haskins could be the second coming and Urban Meyer is 47-3 in the conference over his six years.

This game opened up -2.5 offshore at Pinnacle and the wise guy money drove it up. Follow the money and the Urban legend in this big game. OHIO STATE
