How important is the loss of a top scorer? That’s what the betting market weighs with Sacramento star De’Aaron Fox dealing with a fractured index finger as the Warriors vs. Kings series shifts back to Sacramento tied two games apiece.

While Fox had been listed as doubtful, he says he’s planning to play, and the movement of the betting line suggests he will gut it out.  Here, we look at Warriors vs. Kings Game 5 odds, props, and predictions.

Warriors vs Kings Game 5 Odds + Updated Series Price

The impact of Fox is immediate on the betting line.

On Tuesday, DraftKings had Warriors -4 on the road in a 2-2 series in which the home team has won every game. By Wednesday morning, the point spread is down to GSW -1.5

The moneyline shifted from Golden State -175/Sacramento +150 to -120/+100

The Over-Under rose from 232 points to 235 at DraftKings, while Over bettors could still find 234.5 as of Wednesday morning.

As for the series price, FanDuel has the Dubs as -215 favorites to win two of the remaining three games and advance, while Kings backers can grab +180.

DraftKings Boss Weighs Game 5 Betting Impact of Fox Injury

“The feeling has been that Golden State could have won three of the four games,” Johnny Avello, director of race and sportsbook operations for DraftKings, told Gaming Today earlier this week.

“Ordinarily, with this game going back to Sacramento, the line would be Golden State -1, maybe 1.5.

“Putting the line up to -4 with the injury makes bettors think about this a little bit. This is a little scary, trying to understand the role of one player in what has now become a best-out-three series.”

And this player has been off the charts.

Fox has averaged 31.5 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in the four games.

Fox also helped thwart Golden State’s best opportunity to claim homecourt advantage. That happened in Game 1. He drained timely three-pointers to keep Sacramento from falling out of it when the team trailed by double digits in the second half.

Fox tallied 38 points in Game 1, 24 in Game 2, 26 in Game 3 and 38 in the last, a 126-125 nailbiter for Golden State.

Fox did tally seven points after the injury apparently occurred late in Game 4.

Medical opinions have been that the adrenaline of the moment carried him through that game. There are options like splints that can be applied to Fox for Game 5, with the trade-off being an impact to range of motion.

So even if Fox plays, the accuracy on his outside shots could be impaired.

Warriors Betting News

Steph Curry is the man for Golden State, and he showed it again with 36 points in Game 3 and 32 in Game 4.

But Andrew Wiggins has subtly become an exceptional complement. He stepped up in Game 3 with 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field, 3-for-6 in three-pointers, and seven rebounds.

Wiggins delivered 18 points and eight boards in Game 4. Klay Thompson also came up big with 26 points.

Kevon Looney provided the bench rescue of the year with 20 rebounds in Game 3. He was filling in for Draymond Green, suspended one game for stomping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis in Game 2.

In Game 4, the Warriors dodged another bullet when Curry called a timeout the team did not have in the final minute. The ensuing technical foul gave Sacramento an unexpected chance to steal Game 4 with a Harrison Barnes buzzer-beater. It hit the back of the rim and stayed out.

Kings Betting News

It’s all about Fox and who fills the potential void.

Sabonis has been money with double-digit rebounds in three of the four games.

Malik Monk may gain more focus in this game. He tallied 32 points off the bench in Game 1, 18 in Game 2. After a lackluster Game 3, with just four points, he produced 16 in Game 4.

He’s already proven to be a big-game player early in the series. Monk is a bit of a streaky shooter but he might be made for this moment of picking up the slack in a big home game.

Warriors vs Kings Game 5 Betting Trends at DraftKings

The public sees this game as something for everyone, but the bulk of money will come late, and the shift in the betting line obviously impacts bettors’ approach.

  • Golden State has 63% of the spread handle and 57% of the tickets at -4.
  • The margin is tighter on the moneyline with the Warriors gaining 61% of the bets and 51% of the handle at -175.

The total has a wide-open perspective.

  • Under 232 gleaned 68% of the early handle, but only 38% of the tickets. Bigger bettors believe this game will land Under the total, while more bettors see it going over.

Golden State, with its role of defending champions and long playoff history, continues gaining wider appeal. But the public hasn’t gone in on the Warriors with the same zeal as Game 2.

That’s when the Warriors had approximately 95% moneyline and spread support before losing 114-106 to the Kings.

Warriors vs. Kings Game 5 Prediction

Golden State ML, finally breaking through on the road.
