First of all, I would really like to thank all of those who attended our 8 a.m. Breeders’ Cup seminar at the Palace Station racebook. What a huge crowd and a huge success. Just a group of dedicated horse players, we all had a great time and the coffee and donuts were very good.

I also want to thank those who emailed me with thanks on my pick in the Las Vegas Breeders’ Cup Mile, Tamarkuz, who was also my top pick in GT, paying a nice $25.80 and winning by more than three lengths.

Thank you to Professor Gordon Jones and Dave Valento, “The Track Phantom,” for their very informative BC handicapping; Palace Station and “Big” Mike Corrigan for putting this event on and we look forward to doing another breakfast Kentucky Derby Seminar next May.

The football season is winding down but it seems like it started yesterday, and believe it or not this bettor eked out a winning week with my GT plays last week. We will stick with the same formula I used last week as I handicapped the games looking at no lines, so here we go.

Cincinnati +10 at CENTRAL FLORIDA: We get two teams going in different directions with the meowing Bearcats simply not very good this year, losing four of their last five games. We get UCF on the verge of being Bowl eligible with a 5-4 record after a no win season last year. New head coach Scoot Frost has done a great job of getting this program back on their feet as they look for revenge from last year’s crushing defeat in Cincy, 52-7. UCF

TULSA -2 at Navy: The high scoring Hurricane storm into Annapolis looking for revenge from last year’s 44-21 thumping at the hands of the Midshipmen and catch them off huge win versus Notre Dame. The hats were flying as the Middies celebrated all week. Tulsa gets the win in a high scoring game. TULSA

Rice +10 at CHARLOTTE: The Owls have done little hooting this year with just one win and that was versus Prairie View. The 49ers from Charlotte come off a huge upset win last week versus Southern Miss and look to revenge last year’s 27-7 loss in Houston. We say yes, lay the points. CHARLOTTE

North Texas +29 at WESTERN KENTUCKY: As my cousin Greg would say, “We are laying more chalk than a fourth grade classroom.” Must lay the lumber in this game as the Mean Green from Denton, Texas have been not so mean their last two games since upset wins versus Marshall and Army, losing and not covering their last two. The Hilltoppers from Bowling Green are on a nice roll, winning and covering four in a row, and they beat North Texas last year, 55-28. Look for another high scoring game with the Hilltoppers getting the blowout win. WESTERN KENTUCKY

LSU -7 at ARKANSAS: It was an all out war in Baton Rouge last week with the LSU Tigers giving everything they had but losing 10-0 to No. 1 Alabama. I do not see them in any mood for this tough road game and the Razorbacks are off a nice upset win versus Florida. ARKANSAS

USC +9 at Washington: The Trojans, after a horrible start, now have won five in a row, covering four of those games. They now travel to Seattle to take on the undefeated Huskies, who are a perfect 9-0 but have only covered five of those nine games. Look for USC to play their game of the year looking for the upset. Take the points. USC

Last week: 5-5

Season: 22-35-2

NFL NOTE: I just got a text from my good friend Jim Long telling me he had a great day in the NFL on Sunday going 2-3-1. That is two winners, three losers and a tie. He said after the Breeders’ Cup it made him feel like a big winner.

Del Mar in November opens this Friday and if you have not made the little trip, approximately 4.5 hours, it’s a must if just for a weekend. No big crowds, the restaurants not overly crowded and great weather, plus it’s a nice drive.

Have a great week and as always get off that couch and head out to make a bet and play that lucky machine. You never know, you could be walking around lucky and not even know it.
