What Can Impact World Series Futures?
Much can shift the odds in the three months between now and when spring training opens next February. Free agency will be open for business, with stars Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell, and Cody Bellinger among the players who will hit the open MLB market. But the likely 2023 AL Most Valuable Player will certainly make his new team much better. He’s been rumored to be coveted by the Dodgers, Giants, and Mets.
Rumors are swirling that Soto, a star outfielder for the Padres, will be traded to the Yankees or possibly the Red Sox. His uniform change will improve that team’s chances to win the next Fall Classic.

Longshot Bets for 2024 World Series
If there’s a team near the bottom of the odds board who could get to the World Series in an unlikely fashion as the D’backs did, it may be the Miami Marlins at +6000. The Marlins made the playoffs this season and have a young core of players with talent, especially on the pitching staff.
No matter what the futures odds for the next World Series, it could be a tough wager to win or one that would pay off big. Baseball has been among the most challenging sports to see dynasties emerge as champions. In the last 20 seasons, 13 franchises have won the World Series. By comparison, the NBA has seen only 11 in the previous 20 seasons, the NFL has had 13, and the NHL has had 12.
