It seems appropriate that Richard Sharpe won the inaugural M Resort football handicapping contest.
With only 30 contestants each paying $3,000 to enter, Sharpe took home $50,000 from the $100,000 prize pool. The prizes awarded were as follows:
1st place = $50,000
2nd place = $20,000
3rd place = $15,000
4th place = $10,000
5th place = $5,000
As a "sharp" handicapper, he had to pick three NFL and three college games a week. “I played the best games I knew how and got lucky a few times,” shared Sharpe, of his winning strategy.
M sports book manager Mike Colbert said the casino also awarded a $2,000 Super Bowl parlay, side to total, to one of the 30 contestants, who were all entered into the drawing automatically by being in the contest.
Sharpe is a steady player who enjoys playing the M’s in-running betting system, he said. "It's very addictive. I love it!”
So what does Sharpe plan to do with his winnings? “I plan to invest it in football games," he laughed. And that will probably happen at M Resort. “They’re one of the best books I’ve dealt with. They take big bets with no problems, unlike a lot of places. They’re good to me here.”
