Plenty of choices to ring in New Year

Ring in the New Year and join the party with the best of all free shows in Las Vegas with the $500,000 fireworks extravaganza, which simultaneously erupts from the rooftops at Bally’s, Circus Circus, Excalibur, Flamingo, MGM Grand, Monte Carlo, Stardust, Stratosphere, Treasure Island, and The Venetian.

The downtown action under the Fremont Street Experience for New Year’s Eve will feature the Vintage Vegas Countdown celebrating the centennial (100 years of Las Vegas) with music and dancing in the streets. Entertainment will be provided by BTO (formerly known as Bachman Turner Overdrive) and Morris Day & the Time. The gates will open at 5 p.m. and tickets are just $35. It’s party time at most Las Vegas casinos, which will be offering private parties for invited guests, but if you’re looking for public party ideas there are plenty from which to choose. No doubt one of the most popular New Year’s Eve hot spots will be the Palms. The casino is inviting everyone to Toast Life this New Year’s Eve. Some of the planned events include the following:

Key West Room: Groove to the hottest dance music of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today with Jaggedy Ann and DJ Joy. Included are two drinks, plus party favors and a champagne toast at midnight. Doors open at 10 p.m. Tickets are $39.99 per person. Tickets are available at the Palms Shop.

The Lounge: Ring in the New Year with recording artist Franky Perez and DJ Toast. Two drinks, plus party favors and a champagne toast at midnight are included. Doors open at 10 p.m. $39.99 per person, which includes taxes. Tickets are available at the Palms Shop.

Ghostbar: Hovering 55 floors above the Las Vegas Strip, ring in the New Year in style at Premier Ultra Lounge, Ghostbar. From lavish hors d’ oeuvres and a hosted premium bar from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. to party favors and a midnight champagne toast. Doors open at 8 p.m. Limited table space is available. A limited number of tickets at $300 per person are now available.

Plus the hotel will host a free casino-wide party including free champagne at midnight.

Ellis Island Casino and Brewery will also greet the New Year with a free casino wide party and a free karaoke party, live music and dancing, free party favors, balloons and a complimentary champagne pour at midnight. And then there’s the "Morning After the Night Before" with free Bloody Mary’s and football all day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Both the Rampart and Cannery Casinos will be decorated in black, white and gold balloons throughout the casinos and free party favors will be passed out in the buffets, bars and restaurants as well as on the casino floors. In addition, a champagne toast will be offered to all guests at midnight on the casino floors.
