Vikes-Pack always ‘over’whelms

If you’re a horse player and have a little cash left over from last year, you should think about taking a shot at Bally’s last chance contest Jan. 20-22.

This great tournament cost $1,000 to enter, but $750 of that total you put into action and whatever you get back is yours. Also, you will get a shot at getting into the NTRA National Handicapping Championship final as the last two spots for this $400,000 tournament will be up for grabs on those two days.

As John Avello said to me "You would have to be crazy not to enter this if your going to put $750 in action that day.

Tuesday is the big day as the Orange Bowl will decide college football’s top team, according to the BCS. Will it be Oklahoma or Southern Cal?

My good friend and fellow handicapper Joe Karbousky e-mailed me saying he would be all over USC at pick or plus points at game time. This game actually opened with USC a 3-point favorite and is now pick’em at the Mirage Sports book. Wouldn’t it be nice to see the winner of this game play Utah! I myself will not take a side in this game as these two look dead even to me. I’ll just bet "over" 54, sit back and enjoy.

NFL WILD CARDS

Saturday, Jan. 8

Rams +4 at Seahawks (53): The Rams beat the Seahawks in both regular season meetings, winning 33-27 in OT at Seattle, and 23-12 at home. St. Louis won its last two regular season games against the Eagles and Jets to get here. The Seahawks are 2-11 ATS in their last 13 games. I know its tough to beat a team three times in the same season, but you must take the points. RAMS.

Jets +6 at Chargers (45): This one is a real no brainer, Jets lost three of their last four games while the Chargers dropped only one all year ATS. That was a loss to the Jets in Week 2, 34-28. Sweet revenge. CHARGERS.

Sunday, Jan. 9

Broncos +10 at Colts (56): The Colts covered just once in their last four games and lost at Denver last week as a 10-point dog, 33-14. Indy beat the Broncos in the wild card game last year, 41-10. Even though I think the Colts can reach the Super Bowl, I am inclined to take the points. BRONCOS.

Vikings +6 at Packers (49): The Vikings went 0-5 ATS in their final five games. These two met twice during the year with the Pack winning both by a field goal in high scoring shootouts. Green Bay has been up and down, just a mediocre 7-8-1 ATS. The last nine matchups have gone "over" the posted total. If the weather is clear and no snow, make it 10! OVER.
