The owners of the Royal Resort are planning to build a tower with 790 units next to their hotel on Convention Center Drive. The tower will be comprised of 60 percent hotel rooms and 40 percent time-share units. Ground is expected to be broken in 90 to 120 days and the project is expected to take 18 months to complete. The Royal Resort, which had gaming until April 2003 and still holds an unrestricted license, will be renovated to again include what management describes as a full-service casino including a sports book in the existing building. The expected cost of the project has been put at between $200 million and $250 million.
