More winning options at Casino Niagara

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. -- The Twelve Days of Christmas will be celebrated with a unique twist at Casino Niagara. A total of $10,000 will be awarded Dec. 11-22.

The Tic Tac Dough contest on Dec. 10 offers a pool of $80,000 in instant prizes. After that, winning scratch tickets can be entered on any of the 12 days that Casino Niagara Club members return to the casino and try to win a bonus prize, which ranges from $1,000 to $5,000.

The $50,000 Blackjack Mania tournament returns Dec. 7-8, with $25,000 to the first-prize winner. Entry fee is just $75. To join and register, call toll free at (888) 756-8258.

Casino Niagara has opened a new lottery kiosk in the facility. It sells a variety of gaming items authorized by the Ontario Lottery Commission, including 6/49, Super 7, Lottario, Daily Keno, Pick 3, Sports Select (Pro line, Over Under and Point Spread), Ontario 49 and instant tickets.

The kiosk is on the second floor, across from the entrance to the nickel slot area. It’s open daily from 7 a.m. to 11p.m.

In addition, U.S. Customs has a currency limit of $10,000 when crossing the border in either direction. Casino Niagara can give your winnings in cash, check, or hold any amount in an account for future casino visits. Winnings are paid in Canadian currency.

Americans visiting Canada are entitled to a partial rebate of the 7 percent charge on most goods and services sold or provided in Canada.

As a visitor to Canada, you can claim a refund for some of the tax you pay on accommodations as long as your stay is less than one month. You may also claim a tax refund for eligible goods you take out of the country. You qualify for a tax refund if: you are not a Canadian resident; you have original receipts; each receipt for eligible goods is at least $50 Canadian; and, you spend at least $200 Canadian on accommodations or eligible goods.

You have one year from the day you purchase your goods and accommodations to claim the GST rebate. Ask for a GST rebate form when you make your purchase. Most shops will have them.
