The Joker’s Wild casino on Boulder Highway has a Strip ambiance with its circus-tent facade accented by neon and runner lights.

But inside, sanity prevails with row after row of slot and video gaming machines plus most of the amenities players look for in a locals casino.

There are about 650 slots — a nice mix of reel games such as Wheel of Fortune, Reel ”˜Em In and Filthy Rich, along with video poker and keno machines in denominations starting at 1¡.

The Boyd casino’s modest pit features 11 table games, including blackjack, craps with 10x odds, roulette, 21 Madness, Royal Match 21 and Lucky Ladies 21.

The sports book, which seats 20 people, posts odds on all games and events booked by the Stardust race and sports book.

Keno lovers will find some of the highest payoffs in town. The keno lounge features a 1,000-race ticket and a $1 million game that is paid instantly — no annual installments.

When it’s time to refuel, players can feast in the 24-hour Court Café which serves hearty breakfast specials starting at $1.19 and a full prime rib dinner for $5.95 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Joker’s Wild also has a bargain-priced buffet that hosts a Friday seafood special ($9.99) that includes all-you-can-eat prime rib and a pound of King crab legs, and a Sunday champagne brunch ($9.99) with a similar menu.

One of the casino’s best attractions is its paycheck cashing promotion in which check-cashers try for $5,000 in cash plus other prizes by playing a giant, ceiling-reaching paycheck tower.
