Casinos that offer lessons

We frequently receive requests from casino newcomers who want to learn to play the table games, but don’t want to squander their bankroll in the process.

Thankfully, there are a number of casinos that offer free lessons. And, believe it or not, they’re for the most part very good about offering tips that will help the players win.

Even if you have some experience with the games, lessons are a good idea as a refresher and sometimes valuable coupons or match-plays are given during the lessons.

Often a low-limit, start-up game will follow the lessons so players can get some live table game experience. The following is a list of Las Vegas casinos that currently offer free lessons. If your favorite casino isn’t listed here, ask in the pit if lessons are offered.

Most casinos that offer live poker rooms also offer free poker lessons. A couple of good places to start are the Palms with lessons beginning at noon every Monday through Friday, and the Imperial Palace with free beginners’ lessons offered daily at 11 a.m. If you have a favorite poker room, ask about lessons or suggest they start holding them.

If you like video poker, learn the nuances of the game at Fiesta Henderson with lessons from expert and author Bob Dancer. The classes are free and are held in either the Cancun Room or the Lava Lounge on Tuesdays beginning at 10 a.m. The subject of the classes vary from Joker Poker to Deuces Wild to Triple Play and more. Check with the casino for specific classes.
