Sun-Sets on smoke

Sunset Station announced last week that its poker room became smoke free on April 1. The change came after the positive response from poker room patrons to the smoke-free status of other Station poker rooms.

Following the January 4 opening of the non-smoking poker room at Santa Fe Station, Texas Station and Palace Station quickly followed suit by designating their poker rooms as non-smoking rooms on Feb. 1.

Santa Fe’s decision to maintain a non-smoking status for their poker room was a first among local off-Strip gaming operators. But it is now becoming a trend.

"What began as an experiment aiming to increase the comfort of our guests while enjoying poker became an immediate success," said Weldon Russell, director of ancillary games for Station Casinos. "Our customers responded so favorably to smoke-free poker play at Santa Fe, Texas and Palace, we decided to designate Sunset Station’s poker room as non-smoking."
