Poker players who would like to experience the thrill of tournament action without having to raid their kids’ college fund should check out Bally’s on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

That’s when the Strip casino hosts three separate Texas Hold’em tournaments, all beginning at 10 a.m. (registration begins at 9 a.m.). A maximum of 50 players will be accepted in each of the tourneys.

On Tuesday, it’s Bally’s $50 buy-in Pineapple Tournament. The game features a No Limit Texas Hold’em format, except that the player initially receives three cards and must discard one before the flop.

To begin play, each entrant receives 1,000 tournament chips (no cash value), and blinds will begin at 25-25 and increase every 15 minutes.

All but 7 percent of the prize pool (earmarked for the tournament staff) will be awarded to the to four finishers: 50 percent to first place, 25 percent to second, 15 percent to third and 10 percent to fourth.

On Wednesdays, the $50 buy-in Crazy Pineapple tournament is similar to the Tuesday tourney, except the player initially receives three cards and discards one after the flop.

Rules and prize distribution is the same for both Pineapple tournaments.

On Thursdays, Bally’s hosts its $77 Strip Shootout, a $77 buy-in, No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament.

Once again, a maximum of 50 players will be accepted, and the prize pool will be distributed in the same manner.
