A 63-year-old Ohio man celebrated his wedding anniversary in grand style by winning an IGT slot jackpot worth $1,562,361 on Memorial Day at the Westward Ho Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Dennis Stoltz, who is a retired railroad worker, said he had played only $3 on the Jeopardy! quarters game when he hit the jackpot.

"I was just hopping from machine to machine, but I remembered that a friend had once played a Jeopardy! slot and won on it," said Stoltz. "I called a casino person over because the machine locked up. I thought I’d won $1,500, but the slot person said, ”˜No, you won more than that.’"

Stoltz said he’ll use some of his winnings to pay off a car loan but doesn’t have plans for the rest. He said he’ll return to the Westward Ho as he has for years with his wife, Sheila, and another couple, to celebrate their anniversary — and now, to commemorate his big win.
