Stratosphere unveils exclusive new poker machines

The Stratosphere Casino recently unveiled six exclusive video poker machines that are certified to pay returns of more than 100 percent. The six different 25-cent bonus video poker models were created under an exclusive agreement with International Game Technology (IGT).

What makes the machines unique are their payoffs (see accompanying pay table).

"No other property has these games. For the video poker player, you can’t find better games in town," said Keith Williams, vice president of casino operations.

Other exclusive machines at the Stratosphere include the $5 denomination Duty Free video poker machines. Also developed by IGT, these machines increase the overall percentage of returns while decreasing the overall amount of W-2 (taxable) payoffs.

Duty Free video poker increases the payouts of Four of a Kind (2, 3 and 4) and reduces the pays on Four of a Kind (5 through King). The result, theoretically, if a player hits every four of a kind possible, will increase the amount won by $950 while reducing the taxable jackpots from $22,500 to $11,500.

"We listen to what our guests want," Williams said. "In doing so, we have developed a five dollar video poker game for the serious high-limit video poker player."

Williams added, "These exclusive games fall into the Stratosphere’s strategy of offering innovative new games with great odds, to become the best gaming value in the city of Las Vegas."
