The current world-record payouts for penny and nickel slot machines will be shattered when the next MegaJackpots prizes are won on IGT’s TV Hits and Diamond Cinema wide-area progressive games.

In Nevada casinos, the TV Hits system — which links The Twilight Zone, M*A*S*H, The Beverly Hillbillies and I Dream of Jeannie video slots — has a top jackpot that is building from a current total of $2,629,569. The existing record for a penny-denomination slot jackpot is $2,065,685, which was won on a Wheel of Fortune Special Edition video slot at the Viejas Casino in Southern California on January 3 this year.

Waiting in the wings to eclipse the penny record is the MegaJackpots prize on the new Nevada penny Megabucks, which is building from its current amount of $10,732,355.
